Doctor Who - The High Council, Episode 38
Doctor Who - The High CouncilIn an episode of Doctor Who that clearly name checks the Podcast, and name checks itself, Josh, Warren, Steven, Kyle and Eric have joined the Master and we're back in jail again. Why are we talking about Guy Fawkes? An entire episode of aborted space walks, a Jo Grant 20 minute soliloquy, and a very ill-timed course correction. We are clearly magazine-smart and can manage to provide guidance to our dear listeners on the concept of space travel, what the Master meant when he said "We'll let you know, Ms. Grant" and what separates this from the Star Wars universe. Wow, that was a clever and rather abrupt cliffhanger. Enjoy!

Falling on Cory Bernardi
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastOur flight finally reaches the end of the 1970s, only to run out of hymetusite and crash ignominiously into The Horns of Nimon.
Buy the story!
The Horns of Nimon was released on DVD in 2010. It was released by itself in the US (Amazon US), but in the UK it was released along with The Time Monster and Underworld in the rightfully unloved Myths and Legends box set (Amazon UK).
Notes and links
Here’s South Australian Senator Cory Bernardi drawing an irrefutable link between marriage equality and marrying your dog.
Fans of the Nimon (and who isn’t?) will enjoy the Big Finish Eighth Doctor audio Seasons of Fear by Paul Cornell.
Once again, we mention Licence Denied, which was a collection of fan writing edited by Paul Cornell first published in 1997. Notable essays include Tom the Second, Gareth Roberts’s defence of the Williams Era, and Why the Nimon Should Be Our Friends, by Phillip J. Gray.
And here’s is Shaun Micallef interviewing Jack Tiger Adams, for some reason.

Bondfinger
Our Casino Royale (1967) commentary is now out, and it’s mental, but nowhere near as mental as the film itself. Once the acid flashbacks have subsided, you might enjoy our other Bond commentaries: You Only Live Twice (1967), Thunderball (1965), Goldfinger (1964), From Russia With Love (1963), and Dr. No (1962). You can keep up with the Bondfinger news on our website, as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

TDP 561: Doctor Who Main Range 209 - Aquatine
Tin Dog PodcastToday should be much like every other day for Hargreaves, the computer consciousness that co-ordinates daily life aboard the spaceship Aquitaine, stationed on the outer fringes of a black hole. Water the plants, run the diagnostics, cook the Captain's breakfast; then tidy the plates away, rotate the ship, clean the windows of the observation deck. When at last the day's work is done, Hargreaves will dim the lights in the sleeping quarters. But no-one will sleep aboard the Aquitaine tonight. Because the Aquitaine's crew is missing. But today will be different. Today, a space/time ship called the TARDIS will materialise in the botanical section, bringing the Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan aboard the Aquitaine. Together, they'll seek to discover the truth of what happened to Hargreaves' crew... ... if only the ghosts will let them. Written By: Simon Barnard & Paul MorrisDirected By: Ken Bentley Cast Peter Davison (The Doctor), Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Janet Fielding (Tegan),Matthew Cottle (Hargreaves), Harry Myers (Dr Sergei Akunin), Nina Sosanya(Captain Anna Maynard), Gerald Kyd (Lt Maurizio Savinio), Danusia Samal (Lt Freya Jennings)

Radio Free Skaro #517 - Quel Dommage
Radio Free SkaroIt’s the post-Gally period, which means lots of pent-up news of middling interest, debates about terrible video games of yesteryear, silly spoofs and condescension towards Britain’s national treasures. But the treat of the week is a previously unaired interview with one Russell T. Davies from 2011, courtesy of writer and interviewer Jeffrey Berman. Jeffrey hosted a show seen locally in Los Angeles where he interviewed notable writers about their work and writing process. The first season aired in 2008, but while interviews were conducted in 2011 (including RTD) they have never been heard…until now! Enjoy!

Radio Free Skaro #517 - Quel Dommage
Radio Free SkaroIt's the post-Gally period, which means lots of pent-up news of middling interest, debates about terrible video games of yesteryear, silly spoofs and condescension towards Britain's national treasures. But the treat of the week is a previously unaired interview with one Russell T. Davies from 2011, courtesy of writer and interviewer Jeffrey Berman. Jeffrey hosted a show seen locally in Los Angeles where he interviewed notable writers about their work and writing process. The first season aired in 2008, but while interviews were conducted in 2011 (including RTD) they have never been heard...until now! Enjoy!

Episode 109: Long Chain of Life Threatening
Trust Your DoctorI did a play once that ended in a long chain of people holding guns to peoples heads.
This week Kiyan and Dylan secretly record in yet another undisclosed location. Luckily when they ventured out, the Lady of the realm didn’t chuck them into a pit filled with some generic creature of destruction. So instead they sat down and discussed The Creature from the Pit, written by David Fisher and aired in October and November of 1979.

Episode 58: The Last Resort
The Doctor Who Book Club PodcastWE'RE BACK! After a short hiatus, during which we read a book and ditched all efforts at trying to record our discussion of it, we decided a change is as good as a rest and tackled a new selection, The Last Resort by Paul Leonard. As is our annual tradition, we recorded "live" from Gallifrey One in Los Angeles, but due to circumstances beyond our control, Erik (for the first time ever in The Doctor Who Book Club history) was unable to join us. Instead, Sean is joined by our friends Felicity Brown and Jeff Elston as we discuss the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventure The Last Resort. From the back cover:
'I think time and space just fell apart.'
Anji isn't sure, but then it's hard to be sure of anything now. Good Times Inc. promised a new tourist experience, with hotels in every major period of human history - but that kind of arrogance comes with a price, and it's a price the Doctor doesn't want to pay.
As aliens conquer an alternative Earth, Anji and Fitz race to find out how to stop Good Times without stopping time itself. But they find that events are out of control - they can't even save each other. And when the Doctor tries to help, it gets far worse. At the Last Resort, only Sabbath can save the day. And then the price gets higher...
You may remember Paul Leonard from the Virgin Missing Adventure Dancing the Code, which we reviewed back in Episode 44. He also brought us Speed of Flight, Toy Soldiers, and Genocide.

Episode 130 : The Beginning
The Untempered Schism PodcastThe Untempered Schism goes all the way back to the beginning this week. No, not to The Unearthly Child, but back to The Beginning, where Susan recounts her and her grandfather’s flight from Gallifrey. Except they didn’t flee entirely alone, didn’t make it all the way to Earth the first time, and by the time we catch up with them in Totter’s Lane, the TARDIS is a lot older than anyone thought.

42 to Doomsday - Not Suitable for Children?
42 To DoomsdayEpisode 51 - in this episode Rob and Mark ponder the question: is Doctor Who appropriate for children and was the educational remit of the early years a red herring so kids could fool their parents into letting them watch the programme? Plus our delayed reactions to the Grand Moff's departure as show runner, how the ABC celebrated the show's 25th Aniversary and what fate befell those tapes? To wrap things up, we discuss the forthcoming Dr Who Cookbook and ask each other what recipes we would contribute if asked! (unlikely we know...)
