Discussed: Doctor Who Series 9 Rumours, David Tennant & RTD in Cardiff
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 55 minutes and 7 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian A Terranova head to the news well for this week’s podKast, in which they cover everything from crazy rumours to odd casting and ask questions of Big Finish’s classic/nuWho mashups.
On top of that, we have completely innocent speculation about the Private Eye rumours and the presence of David Tennant and Russell T Davies in Cardiff as well as all of the usual recommendations, pulled from our team like a dentist with pliers.

- PodKast: Female Doctor Who
- PodKast: Fan Ownership
- Ant-Man
- The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
- Lily Arwell cast in The Churchill Years
- Big Finish NuWho mashups announcements
- Tennant and RTD in Cardiff
- Lack of Doctor Who episodes in 2016?
- Reece Shearsmith in Doctor Who Series 9
- Flash Gordon sequel
- Doctor Who Series 9 Paul McGann rumour
- Custard creams: the Doctor’s new nemesis?
- Recommendations: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Daemons, Ripper Street Series 3 Episode 2, Whitechapel Series 2, Peter Serafinowicz, The Chronicles Of Riddick (2 Disc Directors Cut)
- The Model Unit – Ten Years
The podKast theme tune is by Russell Hugo. It’s good, isn’t it?

The PodKast With A Rubbertoe
Episode Duration: 0 minutes and 0 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Hey. listener! It’s time to become a viewer once again, as the Kasterborous PodKast (with a “K”) goes all visual to talk to Nick Robatto of Rubbertoe Replicas.
Nick’s the guy who makes a lot of the original props for the show, from the mini police box in Flatline (it was a prop, not a toy!) to the sonic screwdriver, which we reviewed recently.
Unlike most podKasts that feature a lot of James McLean and Christian Cawley with Brian, this time around it’s fair to say that other than the intro and outro, it’s Brian and Nick’s show. Nick was a great guest, and if you’re a collector of Doctor Who props or you’re keen to build your own, you’ll find Nick a fascinating interview subject.
Sticher, Audioboo/m and iTunes versions will follow midweek. Until then, enjoy Brian and Nick’s chat right here, in video format!

The PodKast With A Rubbertoe [UPDATED]
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 1 secondChristian is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Hey.
Find out more about Nick’s prop replicas at www.rubbertoereplicas.com.
Intro on the audio version by John Guilor; podKast theme by Russell Hugo.

Fans of the Kasterborous podKast get a treat this weekend, as we’re webcasting live on Google Hangouts! At 3pm UK time on Sunday, 24th August, Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian Terranova will be giving their reactions to Deep Breath, the 75 minute Doctor Who Series 8 opener that airs the evening before.
Better still, you can take part too!
By using Google Hangouts, we can interact with our dear listener, so we’re hoping you may find the time to leave us your thoughts. Those worthy of discussion will be used in the podKast!
This will be our seventh live podKast, a series which began with the reveal of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor last August:
Since then, we’ve managed to get together on Hangouts several times:
So that’s the sort of thing you can expect. Only with a little more polish, we hope!
On Sunday, we plan to discuss Deep Breath, our initial thoughts on Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, how we hope the series will develop and we’ll be inviting your thoughts and comments on Hangouts, through Facebook and Twitter. Based on previous live podKasts, this should work well, and we’re excited to be returning to the live format for this big occasion.
So, to reKap: the podKast Live, discussing Deep Breath, taking place on Google Hangouts (and with a slight delay on YouTube) on Sunday, 3pm UK time, 10am EST. Those of you who prefer to listen can still do so, as we’ll be using the audio from the live podKast for the usual weekly discussion.
We’ll have the link details for you on Kasterborous, Facebook and Twitter, so keep a look out, and don’t miss it!

Sharing The Peter Capaldi Love In The PodKast!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 1 secondChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
On this week’s podKast, Christian Cawley and James McLean discuss 10 reasons why new Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi is going to be awesome.
The podKast team really think it’s time to share the love for a man who is possibly one of the most accomplished performers to take the role (he’s got an Oscar, you know!) and in light of the noisy naysayers with their shallow ageist attitude, the fightback starts right here.
We also spend a few moments discussing the Fourth Doctor, with news that both Matthew Waterhouse and Tom Baker are interested in reuniting in a Big Finish drama, and that Tom’s Doctor tops the eBay Doctor Who merchandise sales chart.
Along with our recommendations, we’ve also got an impassioned plea from Christian who is exasperated by the actions of certain fans looking for nude photos of Jenna Coleman and Karen Gillan…
As for Brian Terranova – well, who knows where he got to…

Almost 10.5 Doctor Colum Regan Guests On The PodKast
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 1 secondChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
How excited were we this week to welcome onto the podKast a man with a voice like a god, who also doubled for David Tennant in various RTD-era Doctor Who episodes including Voyage of the Damned and Journey’s End?! Say hello, dear listener, to Colum Regan, musician, extra, double and novelist, who is here to talk about just how he became the Doctor’s Double as well as his upcoming book The Fly Guy.
Along with joining us discussing the Doctor Who Series 8 news, Colum helpfully explains just how he went from working as a musician to standing in for David Tennant! It’s a fascinating story, spanning Weevils and Kylie Minogue, and we’re sure you’re going to enjoy listening to it as much as we did.
Colum Regan will have his first book out later this year, “The Fly Guy” and we’ll also hear from him about that.
Oh, and he has a deep, booming, god-like voice. We mentioned that above, but feel it is worth repeating.

Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 0 minutes and 30 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Hey, dear reader, it’s podKast time, where we discuss the recent leakgate revelations and chew the fat over the awesome new Doctor Who Series 8 trailer that cast a Whovian shadow over the World Cup Final on Sunday evening.
Recently we’ve learned that the leaked Doctor Who scripts and first episode Deep Breath were possibly stored on an unsecured drive on an open web server – so who is to blame for this incident?
Meanwhile, we’re loving the new trailer and the various shots therein (particularly the shadows revolving around Peter Capaldi’s face!). There’s also news about the Doctor Who World Tour and a callback to the debunked rumours about Steven Moffat joining a future Star Wars production.
One last word: we recorded this week’s podKast on Bastille Day…

We Talk Leaked Doctor Who Series 8 Scripts & Episodes!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 0 minutes and 9 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
In light of the recent leaked Doctor Who Series 8 episodes & scripts storm, Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian A Terranova are here with another podKast in which we cover the shock leak and the impact of spoilers over the next few weeks.
This leak is serious stuff. Some Facebook pages and websites are taking the spoilers to heart, sharing them with unsuspecting readers – completely unnecessary, you might think, but of course their aim is to increase hits and popularity. It might prove to be a double-edged sword for some.
Remember, these are real spoilers, plot points, dialogue and twists. We’re not talking about surprise casting or photos here, we’re talking about the actual storylines from five Series 8 episodes.
Also on the agenda today, the latest Doctor Who Series 8 trailer and we have a chat about Brian’s collection of police box photos.
Hit play!

Don't Like The New Doctor Who: Would You Quit Fandom?
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 1 secondChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Hello, dear listener, and welcome to this week’s podKast in which we cover some of the latest Doctor Who Series 8 news and ask the question: if Doctor Who changed drastically (such as casting a woman Doctor or canning the TARDIS), would you quit fandom?
It’s an interesting question, prompted by the actions of a fellow writer recently.
As ever, we’re looking forward to hearing back from you on this topic and everything else we cover this week, so feel free to comment below, tweet us or email.
Sadly there is no Brian Terranova this week, who was sadly caught out with some time travelling freedom fighting on Peladon. Fortunately, Christian Cawley and James McLean are on hand to take your hand and guide you through some exciting, pre-new series news items.
Just to remind you: Doctor Who is on air next month.
Yes, I thought you would like that Here’s something else you might like – press play to begin!

Hear PodKast With A Mortal Enemy On Audioboo!
Episode Duration: 0 minutes and 0 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
In what can only be described as a warm, fireside chat about Doctor Who, Brian Terranova and James McLean take their lead from a couple of news and feature articles recently on Kasterborous and take them for a walk.
Like a free-form Jazz duet, James and Brian lurch from classic to nuWho, the death of traditional fan meetups vs their modern Internet-driven successors and chat about Philadelphia Wizard World (where Brian was cosplaying the Tenth Doctor), Torchwood and the Master!
You may well ask what else they discussed, but we couldn’t possibly tell you. Just hit play to find out
This week, there’s no Christian Cawley, thanks to a nice holiday that he’s having. A byproduct of this is the lack of iTunes/RSS and Stitcher versions of the podKast. We’ll be resolving this problem on Friday, at which point this post will be updated. In the meantime, you can enjoy the podKast via Audioboo using the player below.

The Wrongness of Torchwood & Recolourising Doctor Who
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 9 minutes and 34 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
The podKast is back this week with a spinoff of our hugely popular on-site discussion – thanks to Andy Frankham-Allen – about the inherent issues with Torchwood, the Doctor Who spinoff that ran from 2006-2011.
Following this we take a look at the issue of colourisation, and whether it should be used on any classic Doctor Who serials (or indeed whether any of them should be decolourised!).
Join Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian Terranova for (just over) an hour of Whoniverse chat and occasional madness, and listen out for our selection of recommendations this week, which range from Doctor Who to a Beatles/Led Zeppelin mashup with a lot in between…
Kasterborous PodKast Series 4 Episode 19 Shownotes

- Rik Mayall Obituary on Cult Britannia
- Big Finish & Bernice: Scott Handcock Interviewed!
- Why There Is Something Inherently Wrong with Torchwood
This week’s recommendations:
- Doctor Who Celebration interview
- 20th Century Boys
- X-Men: Days of Future Past
- The Ribos Operation in The Key to Time Box Set
- Iron Man 3
- The Complete All Hail Megatron
- Soundhog’s “Whole Lotta Helter Skelter” mashup

The podKast trio of Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian A. Terranova are back and with no guest this week, we’ve got free rein to talk about pretty much whatever comes up, so listen out for some additional information such as James’ inability to realise that he should have invited a notable Doctor Who companion onto the podKast and Christian’s date confusion leading to the on air announcement of Brian’s brother’s impending nuptials rather than the Philadelphia Wizard World convention, which in fact takes place the following week.
We’ve also got time to chat about our weekly recommendations, so prepare for a nostalgic trip into the past with Robin of Sherwood and some Erik von Daniken-inspired thrills in Stargate SG-1.

We’ve a special guest on this week’s Doctor Who podKast in the shape of Gareth Kavanagh, who joins us for a full hour (and the rest) of news discussion and fanzine sparring.
As well as covering Steven Moffat’s recent comments at the Hay Festival, Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian Terranova also quiz Gareth on this thoughts about the possibility of Doctor Who ending back in 2008, the recent attempt to shift a 16mm film of The Wheel in Space part 3 on eBay and there’s even time to have a chat about the amazing Doctor Who/Rocky Horror Show mashup by The Hillywood Show, which if you haven’t seen yet should be clicked immediately in the shownotes below.
After that, we still managed to squeeze in a little preview about Vworp Vworp! issue 3 (which features an interview with renowned comic book author Alan Moore), which is still in production, and Gareth had some interesting questions for Christian and James about Kasterborous Magazine 2, which is out now.
Time to hit play!

Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 57 minutes and 43 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
It’s the full podKast team this week as Christian Cawley, James McLean and Brian Terranova look at the recent news and discussions in the world of Doctor Who. If all of that wasn’t enough, we also get sidetracked on several occasions, not least by the difference in names of toys and TV shows between the UK and USA, and in what may become a weekly thing, Christian manages to squeeze a mention of his favourite group Led Zeppelin into the podKast.

International Success for Doctor Who Stars & Missing Episodes In The PodKast
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 5 minutes and 14 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Brian Terranova rejoins the podKast this week with Christian Cawley and James McLean, ready to throw his thoughts into the ring on a number of topics, from David Tennant’s US accent to how much healthier Matt Smith is looking since he quit Doctor Who.
Throw in some now-obligatory missing episodes talk, Brian’s awesome TARDIS key collection and mention of his nemesis Paul McGann’s Cat (a commenter in these parts) and you’ll soon wonder how James and Christian ever manage to get to the end of a show when he isn’t around.
Indeed, it’s enough to make you wish that Brian Terranova lived here in the UK. But if he did, we’d have to change the time we do the podKast.
So, press play and enjoy the podKast and it’s astonishingly long list of shownotes.
Kasterborous PodKast Series 4 Episode 14 Shownotes

Spoons, Terminators, Soap & Doctor Who Missing Episodes in the PodKast
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 56 minutes and 5 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
Hey, Kasterborites – it’s podKast time, in which Christian Cawley and James McLean discuss a few topical items that have been drawing attention in the world of Doctor Who over the past week.
This time, we’ve got our thoughts on the latest missing episodes development (if indeed it is related at all) and have a chat abut Matt Smith’s casting in the new Terminator trilogy (also taking a sidestep to chew over the last two movies in that franchise-by-default).
We also spend a bit of time on the matter of whether Russell T Davies made Doctor Who “soapy” – or wasn’t it always a bit like that?
Finally, our recommendations – don’t miss the moment when Christian reveals who should have been the Doctor’s companion in Series 7a!
Kasterborous PodKast Series 4 Episode 13 Shownotes
- The Power of the Daleks: Reimagined pulled from YouTube
- Capaldi’s Spoon Duelling Double
- Matt Smith in Terminator Trilogy
- RTD responds to “Soapy” complaints
- Recommendations: The Trip to Italy, Orphan Black, The God Complex, Delta and the Bannermen

The PodKast Asks: What Would Your Doctor Wear?
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 55 minutes and 8 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
It’s podKast time, and this week we have a nice long chat about the various looks that the Doctor has had over the years and ask: what would you wear?
Faced with the prospect of chatting about a heckuva lot of Doctor Who news, Christian Cawley and James McLean cope admirably with the onslaught of interesting talking points with their usual irreverence and insight before getting stuck into the issue of time travelling attire in the classic and modern series.
With no Brian Terranova this time around, you’ll probably find that on this occasion his absence is almost unnoticed. After all, it’s a topic that he might have ended up dominating, what with his cosplay tendencies…
Listen out for lots of talk about Jon Pertwee’s waistcoat, Peter Capaldi’s real-life attire and Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch denying interest in each other’s shows. Oh and the recommendations are pretty good too!
Kasterborous PodKast Series 4 Episode 12 Shownotes
- Last week’s podKast – Rise vs Revenge of the Cybermen
- British Pathe newsreels uploaded to YouTube
- Jon Pertwee – Waistcoateer!
- Matt Smith says “no” to Sherlock
- Benedict Cumberbatch says “no” to Doctor Who
- Batman vs Judge Dredd
- Toby Hadoke’s Who’s Round
- Big Finish’s The Worlds of Doctor Who
- Kasterborous on Instagram
- Peter Capaldi dresses like the Doctor in real life – before he was cast!
- Peter Capaldi presents film on surrealist movement
- Recommendations:
- Craft BAFTA win for 50th anniversary shows
The Kasterborous PodKast theme tune is arranged by Russell Hugo. Theme tunes are cool. Meanwhile, the artwork you see above is Lee Sullivan’s superb “Usual Suspects”.

Revenge vs Rise: We Talk Cybermen In This Week's Doctor Who PodKast
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 8 minutes and 36 secondsChristian Cawley is a writer at Kasterborous Doctor Who News and Reviews - All the latest Doctor Who news and reviews with our weekly podKast, features and interviews, and a long-running forum.
PodKasting as a duo this week, Brian A Terranova and James McLean give their thoughts on a couple of recent news items before turning their attention to two Cybermen stories.
Revenge of the Cybermen in 1975 was the cyborg race’s first appearance since 1969, while Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel was their introduction to nuWho (a brief cameo in Dalek notwithstanding). Both stories attempted to rewrite the Cyberman legend, with varying levels of success, and also featured a Doctor with two companions.
While it is difficult to establish which story is “best”, Brian and James nevertheless have a great discussion about their likes and dislikes about the two stories.

Well, here we are, dear listener. A day later than intended, the podKast is now available. You can blame the people who claim to administer our servers for the delay of your fix of weekly Doctor Who discussion with Christian Cawley, Brian Terranova and James McLean.

There’s also chat about Tom Baker launching a run of classic Doctor Who on the Horror Channel and some missing episodes omnirumour talk!
Oh, and we talk about milkshakes, too. In fairness, that’s probably the highlight of the podKast, and we left it at the start, so click play to enjoy .
