In this week’s episode we review the Fifth Doctor classic story, The Visitation. This is the story that said goodbye to the sonic screwdriver for more than 10 years until its return in Doctor Who: The Movie. Which brings us to the second part of this week’s show. A look at the age old debate over the sonic screwdriver and its usage in the series, especially that of the new series.

Also, “Doctor Who is still not on” as Shaun would say in this weeks news.

In this episode we review X-Men #2 (November 1963) featuring the Vanisher! We also finally get to discuss the entire Avengers vs X-Men mega-event which finished on October 3rd. Listeners who haven't finished reading the series or who are waiting for the trade should avoid this second part of the show because spoilers abound! Finally, we talk about which back issues we were able to pick up this month in our unplanned spending spree at Orbital Comics. Our poor bank account took a savage beating when we discovered a gold mine in X-Men back issues just begging to be added to our fledgling collection.

Do they think series 7a ended with a bang or a whimper? Is Phil still a miserable old sod or has he cheered up over the last 14 days? (NO!) Will Paul try to temper Phil's wild conspiracy theories? (YES!).
And in the news this week, an Australian MP wants Doctor Who to film down under, news from the Recon event and Omegas Tat Corner rears its ugly head once more!

This week sees the Three Who Rule in rest mode after five weeks of exhilarating new Doctor Who episodes, and before they begin inviting a few of their friends, old and new, to join them for the next few weeks of podcasting whimsy. As such, much waffling occurs as topics veer from Doctor Who (thankfully) to Red Dwarf to Robocop to 1988 (or is it 1987?) and the contemporary career trajectory of a young Alan Rickman. After your three hosts settle down, though, a thorough and indepth discussion takes place regarding the recently departed Ponds and their place in Who history. We do hope you enjoy listening.

Well...this is it. Amy and Rory have left us. Join us for our discussion of The Angels Take Manhattan (which has nothing to do with Muppets.)

Sturday night was eventful to say the least. Wife and daughter ill, howver I seem to have avoided contamination so far!News, pocast releases and a plea to get involved with this month's competition.

“You know how mosquitos fly through the rain...?”

She was just a girl. A girl with long legs and an even longer memory. And the skinny guy- fading from the corners of her vision like a puddle disturbed by a footstep – was a nurse. They called him “Mr Sweetdreams” on the night shift because his use of topical anaesthesia was legendary.

She could still hear voices on the wind from the past – talk of dames, plot holes and dry towels, of laughter, longing, loss and a shadowy character spoken of in whispers as ‘The Moff’. Why did he enjoy inflicting pain on those who loved him? Was he a misanthrope? A genius? Or just a really twisted scotsman?

What ever he was, she knew she had to get out of town – and fast. But where could she run from that creeping grey menace? Was it ageing or angels that she feared? Was it even fear at all – or the urging of something even more primal – that drove her forward. She shut her eyes – stretched out her pale hands – and gave chase.

Frontios is a Human colony in the distant future, during one of humanity’s low points. It's hardly a nice place to live, in fact worth avoiding. Naturally The Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Turlough find themselves pulled into the situation (literally in this case). With the TARDIS apparently destroyed, monsters stealing bodies and fail-proof technology failing all around them, it might be time to see one of the companions grown out of their shell.

Great chatter with Nixxi Winter (back from sick leave) regarding the finer points of 'The Angels Take Manhattan' including Amy and Rory's exit, 45 minute episodes and story arcs, yes again!! Enjoy, a bit longer than usual, but I have to say the best '50 Shades' podcast in terms of recording for me yet!
