Jim and Martin walk its corridors to find humans in their underwear and the Fab Four (along with the Groovy One, the Trendy Two and the Gear Three), all suffering horrendously bad hair days.

The Doctor gets an invisible friend, Steven fails to notice a potential girlfriend and Dodo is unlikely to make any new friends, bearing as she does a vile infection and a variable accent.

In this week’s episode of Traveling the Vortex, we revisit the Eighth Doctor and Charley in two Big Finish audio plays, Embrace the Darkness and The Time of the Daleks. As you know, we had scheduled one more Big Finish audio, but life does sometimes get in the way, not allowing us to meet certain commitments and time got away from Shaun this week. So, we have moved our review of Neverland off for a month, and will pair it up later with the story Zagreus.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have great pleasure in bringing you an exclusive, never heard before interview with none other than The Master himself, Mr Anthony Ainley. The interview was recorded by friend of the show Martin Spellacey in 1981 whilst he was being driven across London by Anthony on his way back from a Doctor [...]

Plot The Axons land on Earth, desperately in need of fuel. They propose to exchange the miracle substance they call Axonite for some much needed energy. Axonite is a "thinking" molecule that can replicate any substance... or so they claim. As it turns out, the ship is a single organism called Axos whose purpose is to feed itself by draining all energy through the Axonite (which is just a part of itself), including the energy of every life form on Earth. The deception about the Axonite's beneficial properties was to facilitate the distribution of Axonite across the globe. Meanwhile, the Master, who was captured by Axos and used his knowledge of Earth as a bargaining chip for his life and freedom, escapes Axos and makes his way to the Doctor's TARDIS — his own having been seized by Axos. He plans to repair it to escape from Earth. Axos itself becomes interested in the Doctor's knowledge of time travel. It now plans to broaden its feeding base by travelling through time as well as space. The Doctor, realising this, plans to trick Axos into linking up its drive unit to his TARDIS so that he can send Axos into a perpetual time loop. After tricking the Master into completing the repairs on his TARDIS, the Doctor does just that. This results in every part of Axos dematerialising from Earth, including the Axon automatons and the Axonite. At the end, with the Master having escaped in his own TARDIS during the confusion aboard Axos, the Doctor returns to Earth, but not of his own volition. The Time Lords have programmed the TARDIS to always return to Earth, the Doctor states that he is a "galactic yo-yo!". Continuity Both the Doctor and the Master refer to the events of this serial in "Last of the Time Lords". "The Feast of Axos", a Big Finish audio play with the Sixth Doctor, tells the subsequent story of astronauts visiting Axos, still imprisoned in the time loop. The Axons reappear in the Eleventh Doctor Doctor Who Magazine comic strip "The Golden Ones", beginning in issue #425. In this story they are behind a brain-enhancing drink and associated anime show in Tokyo. The drink transforms children into Axons by "increasing the links between neurons in the brain" - in other words, the axons.[1]

Well it's the end of Doctor Who until Christmas, so what to do?  It's a mid series review that's what!  And to help Phil and Paul discuss series 7 so far, friend to the show Stephen Prescott from A Mad Man With A Box Podast makes a welcome return to the show.  They have a great time discussing what they liked and disliked in this first half of series 7 and they lament that the recently released "P.S." wasn't filmed for the show.  You will also hear Phil use the words "adored" and "beautiful".  Yes, you read the correctly!  

And in the news this week, series 7a gets a UV DVD & Blu-ray release, the final viewing figures for The Angels Take Manhattan, new exhibits at the Doctor Who Experience and finally in Omega's Tat Corner The Eternity Clock gets it PS Vita release.

The bulk of this week's episode is devoted to "Chicks Unravel Time," edited by Deb Stanish and L.M. Myles, a follow-up by Mad Norwegian Press to the widely praised "Chicks Dig Time Lords." In this book, each writer tackled a different season of Classic Who, with sometimes surprising results! The editors of this weighty tome told Warren and Steven about the creation of the book, the wide range of voices in the book (from pros to first-time writers) and the big difference that a female perspective can have on interpretation of our favorite television program.  

Oh yes, and some stats were mulled over at some point in the news segment. Last stats until Christmas, thank Omega!

While trapped in the grasp of a black hole, The Doctor is forced to come face-to-face with what just might be The Devil ("The Impossible Planet" / "The Satan Pit").Then, a child won a contest to get his monster on Doctor Who, so RTD thought it would be funny to make a man-gets-head-from-a-block-of-concrete joke in that episode ("Love & Monsters"). Classy. Also, the guys feel fabulous after getting glitter-bombed via e-mail.

The Seventh Doctor is welcomed with open arms by a good-natured roast of one of his less-stellar entries, in which Sarah plays the prosecution and Andrew's attempts to mount a defense are stymied by his continual finding of more faults.
