4.17 Hallo Spaceboy
Doctor Who - Pieces of EighthWE LIED! We told you episode 4.16 was the last of the run, and it really, really was planned to be... and now, it's the penultimate episode of season four!
Before our fifth season kicks off, looking at Phase One of the EDA (we like that phrase - we'll have to use it more in future), we present an overview of the BBC Books series, as not all of our listeners will be aware of the ins and outs of the ongoing adventures.
In September 2003, Panini published the fifth of their Doctor Who Magazine specials, The Complete Eighth Doctor, which looked at the Wilderness Years, the making of the TV Movie, and looks at this incarnation in audio, comics and books.
The feature on the books was written by friend of the podcast Matt Michael, and only featured the novels up to Reckless Engineering, with a further 10 to follow before the range came to an end, so the feature is not fully complete.
In it, Matt considered the highs and lows of the Doctor's novel outings, and to set the scene for the next 18 episodes, we present the feature, Hallo Spaceboy, read by its author.

135. Posh Fanwank
On the Time LashBen's stuck in Patagonia with Ryan Sinclair, so Mark's joined by Dylan Rees from Doctor Who: Too Hot For TV to discuss two stories that introduce Mary Shelley to the Cybermen - The Haunting of Villa Diodati and The Silver Turk. But instead, Dylan and Mark discuss Paul McGann's Big Finish output more generally.
Under discussion: The relative merits of Marc Platt's Doctor Who oeuvre, ghost sandwiches, Lord Byron's sexual deviancy, wise words from Terrance Dicks, and sarky butlers.
Also: What does the Doctor Who theme tune sound like when put in a blender and punted down the stairs? What connects Doctor Who to King Kong? What does a Cyberman smell like? And how close were Big Finish to the edge of destruction in 2011?Follow us on Twitter

5.2 Vampire Science (EDA 2)
Doctor Who - Pieces of EighthTHE EIGHTH Doctor's back in the city where he was born - San Francisco.
Accompanied by his new friend Samantha 'Sam' Jones, the pair encounter vampires and UNIT - but there's not a peep from his old pal Dr Grace Holloway.
Co-author Jonathan Blum joins us for a chat about writing the book - sadly, his wife and co-writer Kate Orman had gone down with COVID-19, so was unable to join us, so sit back and find out just what happened to Grace, as we also mention a vampire called Spike - and it's not THAT one!

#216 - Doctorless Who
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Can the show Doctor Who work without Doctor Who? In this episode, David suggests that Doctor Who is not required and that the real only constant needed for the series is the TARDIS and a crew. Ben entertains this thesis and we discuss what such a show would be like and how it could work and its limitations. We ask if the show has evolved to such a place where the Doctor may be superfluous… or maybe not. Opening music is "My Beautiful Ghost Monument", composed by Segun Akinola. Closing music is the intro theme to Blake's 7, composed by Dudley Simpson. We recorded this episode on 13 November 2022.

Podcastica Episode 267: The Abominable Snowmen OR Slenderman's Resting Smirkface
PodcasticaWe love a good animation (and decry the fact that this appears to be the last one, unless maybe Disney is going to inject some cash that way...please!) and The Abominable Snowmen looks gorgeous! There is lots to like in this story, even though we felt it probably could have been told in four episodes. So grab your parka and pay respects at the monastery because it's time to go after The Abominable Snowmen!
