PodKast Redux!
Kasterborous PodkastHUZZAH! Last week’s podKast (and indeed all of our weekly ramblings) is now back up and running for our listeners and subscribers to enjoy, so forgive us this indulgence as we re-present it for your entertainment.
As you may recall, this podKast (with a “K”) covers Big Finish’s 50th anniversary plans, our recent recommendations, what episode we would take to a desert island and also includes a competition for you to win a copy of the paperback version of Shada!
Brian Terranova, James McLean and editor Christian Cawley are on hand to offer their thoughts and hopes for Big Finish’s various 50th anniversary projects (that we know about) and share their answers to our new semi-regular feature, Desert Island Doctor Who.
But there’s more: in order to be in with a chance of winning a copy of the new paperback version of Gareth Roberts’ adaptation of Douglas Adams Shada (out January 31st), you’ll need to listen to this week’s podKast, via the player below.
(The email address for entering the competition is shada@kasterborous.com. Due to the problems with the podKast in the last week, the competition close date has been extended one week to February 3rd, 2013. Winner will be announced in the first podKast following this date.)
There are three ways to listen:
- Use the player in the top right of each page on Kasterborous.
- Listen with the "pop out" player above, which also allows you to download the podKast to your computer.
- Third, you can take advantage of the RSS feed to subscribe to the podKast for your media player, and also find us on iTunes!
Incidentally, if you are listening on iTunes, please take the time to leave a rating and review and help us to bring in new listeners to the podKast!

The Stolen Earth and Journey's End with That Chip Guy
A Mad Man with a BoxI suspect Chip gave a listen to the “End of Time” episode and felt moved to action enough come on the podcast and lay down some very strong pro-RTD statements.
I have to say despite my Moffat fanboyism and Chip’s RTD fanboyism we don’t disagree with quite as much as he or I (or you the listeners) were probably thinking that we would. We still have a lively discussion though and I think Chip makes a very strong case for not dismissing the series 4 finale quite as easily as a lot of people do.

If you think you can push us
Who's He?It's the first audio commentary of the year, so that means once again Tony returns to the fold to join Phil & Paul in getting through Destiny of The Daleks episodes 1 & 2. This one is real struggle folks! The lads do their best to keep their spirits up in this shoddy run down Daleks, Stevie Wonder disco wigs and ill fitting Davros masks but try as they might, this one gets the better of them! Tony tries desparately to inject some humour into proceedings with his facts but these fall flat in the face of this dreadful story!
And in the news this week the January releases from Big Finish, news of an actor who would like to return to Doctor Who and one actress who isn't and a return to Omega's Tat Corner with some overpriced glittery tat that wouldn't look out of place on QVC.

Episode 75: Oh, What a Tangled Web of Fear We Weave!
The TARDIS TavernLooks like we survived the end of the world after all.
When you survive an ordeal like that, there’s nothing like a little dose of Patrick Troughton, so we decided to turn around and talk about what we originally intended: that mostly-missing story of the Second Doctor’s era, “The Web of Fear”.
Although five of the six episodes were destroyed after someone at the BBC went on a bender and burned a couple dozen reels of old television, you can see the first episode in all its glory in the “Lost in Time” box set. The remainder is available from BBC audio.
You can follow us on Facebook, send us hate mail at tardistavern@gmail.com, and follow Sean on Twitter via @tardistavern (Steve has a Twitter account too, but he hasn’t used it since March of 2012 so we won’t go there). Oh look, rocks!

Tim's Take On: Episode 156(Delia Derbyshire Day)
Tim's Take On...Last weekend I travelled a up to Manchester for Delia Derbyshire Day, which was primarily an opportunity to see a documentary about the lady who brought us the original arrangement of the Dr Who theme but also to learn more about this at times illusive figure from the show's early days.
Quite a long intro and outro from me but hopefully the discussion about Delia, her work and the fact that it motivated Canadian filmmaker Kara Blake to produce a documentary about her will be worth the extra long running time this week.
End theme is Dr Who Ultimate title mix (1963-2007)
