SHOW NOTES
(00:00:00) Our guest on this episode is Ian Winterton of Cutaway Comics. Cutaway Comics is a new British imprint of comics and graphic novels drawn from the darker recesses of a dangerous, unpredictable cutaway universe. From the creators of the acclaimed Vworp Vworp! Magazine, they star some of the most enigmatic characters to have graced our screens. Beginning with a four-issue limited series written by Eric Saward (Doctor Who) and featuring the mercenary Lytton (as portrayed by Gangster’s Maurice Colbourne), Cutaway Comics is also bringing you art from the UK’s hottest artists including Barry Renshaw (Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog). Cutaway Comics is inspired by the so-called ‘backup’ strips of Doctor Who Weekly, which delved deeper into the characters and cultures of the Doctor Who universe away from the Doctor. Stay tuned for some exciting and unprecedented explorations of the worlds of Doctor Who and beyond. Ian also appears on the Cutaway Bunker podcast.
(00:05:00) Ian and Gareth’s interview with the Diddly Dummers can be found on their own “Cutaway Bunker” podcast here.
(00:10:46) The Lass O’ Gowrie is a pub in the centre of Manchester once run by friend of the show and Ian’s partner in crime, Gareth Kavanagh, and once a haven for Doctor Who fans.
(00:13:50) “Hot Dog Magazine” was a film magazine published in the UK between 2000 and 2003. The “Taxi Driver” cover of its first issue can be seen on our Tumblr page here.
(00:22:54) Mark’s former band, Midwich, can be seen on our Tumblr page here.
(00:31:45) The Robert McKee “Story” book referred to here is “Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principles of Screenwriting”.
(00:48:35) The making of “Yes, Minister” book referred to here is “A Very Courageous Decision: The Inside Story of Yes Minister” by Graham McCann.

The Tangerine in the Window
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastIt’s Christmas in July, and what could be more Christmassy than having your brains sucked out by predatory alien crabs? Why, Nick Frost as Santa, of course! So welcome, everyone, to your Last Christmas.
Notes and Links
We often use an episode’s show notes to enumerate a story’s influences, but Mr Moffat has already done it for us. Towards the end of the episode, Shona picks up a piece of paper which outlines her Christmas Day itinerary, including DVD (Alien), DVD (The Thing from Another World), and DVD (Miracle on 34th Street). She also plans to forgive Dave, which is nice.
Brendan mentions the long-forgotten Doctor Who spin-off Class, whose only season aired towards the end of 2016. Peter Capaldi’s Doctor appears in the first episode, which is his only onscreen appearance between the 2015 Christmas Special The Husbands of River Song and the 2016 Christmas Special The Return of Doctor Mysterio.
Before Last Christmas there was, of course, Inception (2010): Christopher Nolan’s film about people making a journey through nested dreamscapes.
Yes, James, we’ve already done the Star Trek: Generations podcast on Untitled Star Trek Project. But thank you for asking.
Brendan mentions the Futurama episode called The Sting, which is full of nested dreamscapes in which it’s unclear who is doing the actual dreaming. Clever, moving and ridiculous — you could almost say Moffaty. (Futurama is back right now with a new series. Exciting.)

You can find Jodie into Terror, our flashcast on the entirety of the Whittaker Era of Doctor Who, at jodieintoterror.com, at @JodieIntoTerror on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and wherever podcasts can be found. We’ll be back with a new flashcast on the second Russell T Davies era in November. (We also hint at another untitled Doctor Who project this episode, but you’ll find out more about that later in the year.)
Our James Bond (et al.) commentary podcast is called Bondfinger, and you can find that at bondfinger.com, at @bondfingercast on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and everywhere else as well.
We can also be heard on the Blakes 7 podcast Maximum Power, which has completed its coverage of the first half of the show’s entire run. We’re determined to bring you our coverage of Series C later this year.
There’s also our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. In our most recent episode, we watch a terrible episode of the Animated Series called Bem and spend a lot of time laughing.

Who's He? Podcast 426 | You play with my world
Who's He?In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.....
The News
The Fourteenth Doctor's new sonic screwdriver is announced via a very flashy trailer, Season 20 of Doctor Who gets the blu ray collection treatment and the 60th Anniversary Specials are being novelised via the medium of Target Books.
Review - Masters of War
Just for a change Phil and Paul have a listen to Masters of War, part of the Doctor Who Unbound series of audio stories from Big Finish. In this "what if" scenario, The Doctor (played by David Warner) and his travelling companion Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart land the TARDIS on Skaro and find that the Daleks have subjugated the Thals and the Doctor sets out to help them fight back. However not everything on Skaro is as it seems.
How will Phil and Paul react to a story that is not (gasp!) canon? Will David Warner live up to Paul's lofty expectations? And will Phil get his in his impression of a spaced out Mr. Burns? Listen to find out if any of this is true!
You can find us on Twitter and Facebook and you can subscribe to our show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts and many other podcatchers and don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel.

Podcastica Episode 285: Night Terrors OR The New 2011 Nissan Tenza
PodcasticaWell, reviewing Night Terrors led us to an interest debate that we're going to take up closer to Halloween: what's the scariest episode of Doctor Who? Because Taylor definitely thinks this story could take the cake! Between the various tropes. a possible homage to Poltergeist, the transition to Peg Doll effects, and lots of spooky directorial choices...Night Terrors definitely rates high on the Behind the Couch scale!

Who's He? Podcast 425 | Les yeux sans visage
Who's He?In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast....
Review - The Faceless Ones
The TARDIS lands at Gatwick Airport in the 1960s, and the Doctor and his companions discover that some young people have gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The investigation leads them to Chameleon Tours and they uncover a fiendish plot to kidnap the youth of Britain!!
This unplanned podcast finds Phil and Scott chatting about The Faceless Ones starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor. This is Scotts first animated story and his first Troughton story so there was a lot to discuss! This story is also notable for the departure of Ben and Polly from the TARDIS and both Phil and Scott reckon they have improved on part of episode six by creating their first Doctor Who reconstruction!
You can find us on Twitter and Facebook and you can subscribe to our show on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Podcasts, Google Podcasts and many other podcatchers and don't forget to subscribe to our Youtube Channel.
