Outsiders Trying to Get In
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, our flight takes us to nineteenth-century Cardiff, where Nathan is worried about the stiffs, Todd is shocked by all this talk about the butcher’s boy, and James is teaching Charles Dickens to enjoy life again mere months before he dies of a stroke. Turns out that we’re all just The Unquiet Dead.
Notes and links
Todd mentions Mark Gatiss’s Big Finish story Phantasmagoria (1999), starring Peter Davison and Mark Strickson, which he manages to get Charles Dickens to name-check in this episode.
Simon Callow’s willy can be seen in the film adaptation of E M Forster’s A Room with a View (1985), which also features an important cameo from Rupert Graves’s willy. Worth a look. (Not just for the willies. Honestly, grow up.)
Here’s Lawrence Miles’s blog post attacking Gatiss for the apparent anti-refugee subtext in this story. Elizabeth Sandifer disagrees with his reading of this story.

Nathan is on Twitter as @nathanbottomley, Todd is @toddbeilby and James is @ohjamessellwood. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the strings performance was by Jane Aubourg. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast. You can also find surprising and completely accurate facts about Doctor Who at @FTEwhofacts.
We’re also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or every time we see you, we’ll look at you quizzically and ask you if you’re sure that you haven’t left the gas on.
Bondfinger
Over on Bondfinger, we haven’t yet got around to recording our commentary on 2015’s SPECTRE, but while you’re waiting for that, why not check out our commentaries on the Daniel Craig era, the Pierce Brosnan era or the Timothy Dalton era?
We also have plenty of Rodgecasts online, and there are other Bonds available, as well. Even fake ones.
You can keep up with the Bondfinger news on Twitter and Facebook.

Our Eras in Doctor Who Magazine Comics
The Doctor Who ShowAs two guys who were out there in fandom - the first time - in the 1980s and 1990s, we both have really fond memories of buying Doctor Who Magazine and reading the comic strip in it.
Then, quite independently of one another (we didn't know each other!), in different Australian cities, we stopped reading the comic, long before we stopped with the magazine itself.
In this episode we discuss when we came to the comic strip in the magazine, what stories we liked (and didn't like!), and also when we started to lose interest with the strip.
Before then, of course, there’s some news from the past month in Doctor Who, and some mini-topics to discuss. You know the drill for our monthly episode by now, dear listener.
Hope you enjoy the episode. Contact us anytime, hello@theDWshow.net

The Doctor Who Show S03 E01 - RTD versus The Moff
The Doctor Who ShowWelcome to the third series of The Doctor Who Show!
Rob and Dave are back and, to ease themselves into 2018, decide to take on a small and non-controversial topic...
RTD versus The Moff
Yes folks, now that the last helicopter out of Cardiff has departed (and related to that, bonus points if you get our pre-credits teaser), we feel the time has arrived where we can compare and contrast the complete output of both Russell T. Davies and Steven Moffat.
That means we consider (and even comment on a great many of), the stories below. To keep it interesting, we tic-tac back and forth between Russell's first series and Steven's. Russell's second series and Steven's. And so on, and so forth.
We hope you enjoy it and although there's a ton of listener comment on the topic at the end of this episode, we look forward to any additional commentary on the topic, once you've heard what we have to say.
Next month we have something completely different, with a couple of very special guests, recorded under very special circumstances. Stay tuned.

Season 25
The Doctor Who ShowBack in April of this year we reviewed Season 16 after a listener poll selected it from the list of four options we provided. A close runner-up to that season was Season 25 and, given its clear popularity with our listeners in the poll, plus the fact it debuted in October of 1988, we thought why not dive in and review it here in October 2020?
After a discussion of the season overall, including thoughts on where the show was at in general, the Australian fan experience for us, and also script editor Andrew Cartmel's first year in the role where he had full control over every story in the season, we then give our thoughts on each individual episode, before a summary at the end.

#175 - Anything Was Just Around the Corner
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2The masterly Greg joins us this podcast to reminiscence about watching Doctor Who as late night television for a kid and playing Doctor Who with a refrigerator box TARDIS and a plush-toy K9, from corridors to quaries, and the Dalek of Shakopee. We also dive into the early Doctor Who Weekly backup feature comics of Alan Moore to 1980s directors who never were involved with Doctor Who, but should have been all the while battling furnace sounds and dog barks. Opening music is from The Sun Makers score composed by Dudley Simpson and closing music is from the Logopolis score composed by Paddy Kingsland. We recorded this episode on 20 October 2020.

Outsiders Trying to Get In
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, our flight takes us to nineteenth-century Cardiff, where Nathan is worried about the stiffs, Todd is shocked by all this talk about the butcher's boy, and James is teaching Charles Dickens to enjoy life again mere months before he dies of a stroke. Turns out that we're all just The Unquiet Dead.
Notes and links
Todd mentions Mark Gatiss's Big Finish story Phantasmagoria (1999), starring Peter Davison and Mark Strickson, which he manages to get Charles Dickens to name-check in this episode.
Simon Callow's willy can be seen in the film adaptation of E M Forster's A Room with a View (1985), which also features an important cameo from Rupert Graves's willy. Worth a look. (Not just for the willies. Honestly, grow up.)
Here's Lawrence Miles's blog post attacking Gatiss for the apparent anti-refugee subtext in this story. Elizabeth Sandifer disagrees with his reading of this story.

318: Remember When We Did Quotes? (Adam)
Trust Your DoctorI don’t actually remember when we stopped doing quotes.
This week Dylan, Kiyan, and Adam take a nice deep dive into Torchwood. It’s been a little while since we watched an episode that so unnerved us that we were shaken to the very core. Our entire notion of reality itself was questioned by this episode, and Adam claimed it so disturbed him he might have to stop watching Torchwood. It’s Adam, written by Catherine Tregenna and aired on February 13, 2008.
