Redux 3: That Vague Memory of 6 Years Ago (The Monster of Peladon)
Trust Your DoctorI only have vague memories of 6 years ago apparently.
In this episode Kiyan will espouse the belief that you should watch Monster of Peladon every single day, over and over and over again until you get it. Now I don’t necessarily disagree, but I have to wonder, is that what people want us to do with The Massacre? And if so, how is this not just some sort of twisted version of stockholm syndrome? It’s Monster of Peladon, written by Brian Hayles and aired between March 23 and April 27, 1974.
Show-notes:
8:13: The basic premise of 4 to Doomsday is that some aliens are on a spaceship headed to earth and are going to wipe out humanity with a virus.
12:05: According to the Doctor Who wiki the Fourth Doctor used a sonic lance on his sonic screwdriver in Robot.
21:30: I was talking about The Aims of Discourse by James Kinneavey. You can read it at that link for free with a jstor account.
38:43: Check out Inevitable: A Classic Sci-Fi Podcast. We’re currently (at the time of writing this) watching Sapphire and Steel.
1:04:36: Looks like Cold Warrior is just a random tv show from 1984. I could barely find any info about it other than this wiki page and an even more threadbare imdb page.

89. Space Dad
On the Time LashBen and Mark turn their attention to the teachers of Coal Hill School as they look at 'The Caretaker' and 'The Rescue'. One story features two kindly teachers specialised in history and chemistry whilst the other focuses on two teachers who, whilst romantically involved, have neither. Under discussion: A whistle stop history of portrayals of the military in Doctor Who, the unassuming historical significance of 'The Rescue', boyfriend errors, and the invention of the Doctor Who companion. Just One Thing
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, we’re joined by TV’s Joe Lidster, to discuss one of our favourite Doctor Who episodes while the world around us devolves into fascism and the universe collapses into nothingness. I guess that’s what happens when you fail to Turn Left.
Notes and links
We spend a lot of time talking about Years and Years, which is Russell’s latest iteration of the story of society’s impeding collapse, and which we first mentioned way back in Episode 159. If you haven’t seen it, you must. If you’re worried that it’s too bleak, it is, but it’s funny and heartwarming as well.

Nathan is on Twitter as @nathanbottomley, James is @ohjamessellwood, Brendan is @brandybongos, and Joe is @joelidster. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the strings performance was by Jane Aubourg. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast.
We’re also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or when the impending disaster strikes, we’ll send you to Leeds. We’ve got an enormous stamp.

You can find Jodie into Terror, our flashcast on the Whittaker Era of Doctor Who, at jodieintoterror.com, at @JodieIntoTerror on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and wherever podcasts can be found.
Our James Bond commentary podcast is called Bondfinger, and you can find that at bondfinger.com, at @bondfingercast on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and everywhere else as well. In our most recent episode, we commemorate Honor Blackman by talking all the way through her appearance alongside Roger Moore in an episode of The Saint called The Arrow of God.

129: Paradise Towers
The Krynoid PodcastFeeling trapped in your home with limited entertainment and an uncertain world outside?
Well maybe you can sympathise with the residents of Paradise Towers – a horrible high-rise housing low-rent war machines, an apparently tin Hitler, omnivorous OAPs and TV’s most amateur and least dramatic junior AmDram group.
The Doctor wants answers, Mel wants a dip and Kroagnon wants a mass eviction order. Familiarly, it’s reds versus blues with the yellows invisible (robot crabs included).
So did Paradise Towers build Jim and Martin’s happiness high or did they feel unalive by the end of it all?
Listen to find out!

084: Delusions & Divorces
Neither The Time Nor The SpaceMatt and David kick off their Series 7 reviews with, rather predictably, "Asylum of the Daleks". Along the way they discuss what nicknames they did or didn't have growing up, and tackle that perennial political question "is our current Prime Minister worse than an actual Dalek?".
Doctor Who theme by Ron Grainer, arranged by Alexander Erben.
