The lovely folks at the Raleigh Doctor Who Meetup Group invited me to speak at their third annual banquet last Saturday, and co-organizer Brad Gillespie kindly recorded it on his Flip camera. I talk about why I started 2MTL ("shiny, happy spite"), returning to Doctor Who fandom after falling away, and why Doctor Who is a better Star Trek than Star Trek ever was. But first, there's a quick disclaimer about my thoughts on fezzes and fans in 2MTL 162.

WHEEEE! It's the Eighth episode of The Cloister Room, a podcast about Doctor Who and other things. 

This week, the "Doctor Who" is Colin Baker's "Attack of the Cybermen. The "Other Things" are Fringe! Well, I guess that would be an "Other Thing" singular.

Next week, we'll be talking about "The Happiness Patrol," featuring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor. The week after that we'll be talking about an Eighth Doctor story... of your choosing! But wait! Wasn't there only one Eighth Doctor story? Well, we're throwing Big Finish's "Blood of the Daleks" into the mix, just to make things interesting. It lit the eternal fire that is Who fandom under many a child's bum, re-lit that same fire in lapsed fans the world over and inspired geeks to embrace the podcast.

We are honored and pleased to have Katrina from the popular Bridging the Rift podcast joining us as we talk about "Planet of Fire," hot on the heels of its DVD release.

This was an interesting one, particularly since what you can't hear is over an hour of footage on the cutting room floor in which we discuss such inanity as Star Trek, Star Wars, and The Human Centipede.  (Oh wait, maybe that last one was just in my head.)

On a side note, special thanks to Katrina for not only being on our show, but saving the day after Sean's Audacity application froze up midway through the session without his knowledge.
