In the first of our extra-long Chatter in the Library edition podcasts, Matt and Ian discuss the first four Eighth Doctor audios from Big Finish, which finally gave Paul McGann a fair shot at being the Doctor. Also, we talk about "Vampire Science," one of the earliest novels in the Eighth Doctor novel series, written by super fans Jonathan Blum and Kate Orman. Before all of the tie-in festivities, we are joined by Nuala to have a chat about "The Almost People," the episode itself and the ramifications of the crazy cliffhanger. This week we have a very special bonus episode of Doctor Whocast for you, as BBC America has opted to withhold the airing of "The Almost People" and "A Good Man Goes To War" off for a week (respectively) because of the Memorial Day holiday. If you live in the US and haven't found a way to see the episode yet, this one-off is for you! Nancy, Bobby, BJ and Brian discuss their favorite "NuWho" season finales as well as their top three episodes of the new incarnation of the series. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the only podcast that also travels in time!

We call this week’s episode, The Almost Podcast because some listeners will hear almost all of the show before they have to wait another week to hear our review of The Almost People. That’s right, our policy here at Traveling the Vortex is, if it’s aired in the U.K., we’re going to talk about it. So please keep that in mind when listening to this week’s show.

However, there is still plenty for the North American folks to enjoy. We also review the subject of last week’s Seven Weeks for Seven Doctors, Vengeance on Varos, starring the Sixth Doctor and Peri.

Surprisingly, there was no actual feedback this week, however, we do read out a couple of comments that are in reaction to BBC America and SPACE’s decision to delay Series Six for one week for the Memorial Day holiday.

We look at this 7th Doctor and Ace confusing classic. Be appalled as Andi explains the connection between Light and The Powerpuff Girls. Be outraged as Adam discusses the importance of attending dinner no matter how many times your host has tried to kill you. On the plus side we’re fairly certain you’ll like our tie.

We've just found out that Bobby, Brian, BJ and Nancy have not been doing Doctor Whocast -- it's been their gangers all along! Never fear, however, as the true crew is back in business discussing the latest episode of Doctor Who, "The Almost People." The quartet give their insight into the second half of this Stephen Graham-penned two-parter while also discussing funny voices and what would happen if your coffee mug was actually bigger on the inside.

Also, since BBC America has opted to not air "The Almost People" for U.S. audiences until next week, we have recorded a second, one-off episode which will be available tomorrow. So, if you need to be spoiler-free, save this show for next week and enjoy the one-shot!

The Gangers declare war and Scott and Matt are seeing double in the fifth episode of series 6, “The Rebel Flesh”. The TARDIS crew arrive on Earth in the 22nd century where factory workers use human doppelgangers to mine dangerous acid. Everything is normal until the almost human “gangers” become self-aware and want to take over the lives of their human counterparts. Can the Doctor stop the gangers from declaring war on the humans before it’s too late? Is this better than Matthew Graham’s previous Doctor Who episode “Fear Her”? Find out in the newest episode of The Doctor’s Companion! And remember, BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!

Indifference shifted to both gasps of astonishment and grumblings of unhappiness at the "game-changing" cliffhanger to this week's festivities...and we still have A Good Man Goes to War to look forward to next week (or the week after that, SPACE and BBC America viewers.) In the meantime, stats were examined, asteroid-eating goats invented, and Journey's End was maligned with a naughty word. Just another normal day here at Radio Free Skaro.

This is a Virgin Missing Adventure set between "Inferno" and "Terror of the Autons"* featuring the Third Doctor and Liz Shaw's second encounter with the Silurians...or homo reptilia, if you will. Plus, it's written by Gary Russell, so it looks like we're in for a bit of a treat.

'And what exactly, Doctor Shaw, do you think C19 does with the dead bodies of plastic dummies, reptile men, primordial throwbacks and all their human victims?'

A little boy goes missing; a policewoman begins drawing cave paintings; and the employees at the mysterious Glasshouse are desperate to keep everyone away — the Doctor suspects it's all down to a group of homo reptilia. His assistant, Liz Shaw, has ideas of her own and has teamed up with a journalist to search for people who don't exist.

While the Brigadier has to cope with UNIT funding, the breakdown of his marriage and Geneva's threats to replace him, the Doctor must find the reptiles alone.

And behind it all lies a conspiracy to exploit UNIT's achievements — a conspiracy reaching deep into the heart of the British Government.

We're big fans of Liz Shaw and the Silurians, so we're looking forward to diving into this tale. Join us, won't you?

*It's also set immediately after the VMA The Eye of the Giant, though I have no idea how important it is to know that.
