On this weeks show Phil and Paul return once again to the literary world of Doctor Who with a look at the Target novelisation Doctor Who and The Space War, otherwise known as Frontier in Space. Yes, a story of two mighty empires on the brink of war and how the Doctor and Jo manage to miss all that by testing a number of different prison cells.  And also during the course of their discussion, they lament the BBC budget in replacing a mighty lizard with a gentlemens scrotal sack.

And in the news this week, the sad passing of Derek Martinus and Kate O'Mara, casting news for series 8 and in Omega's Tat Corner it's time for some sexist footwear!

On the fifty-seventh edition of Reality Bomb, Joy Piedmont follows up on the recent rejuvenation of the Time Team in Doctor Who Magazine by assembling a focus group of twentysomethings who have mostly never read DWM before to see if the magazine connects with them. There's a slow terror afoot (very round feet too!) when our pal (and co-host the Deeper Cuts podcast) Shannon Dohar brings The Sensorites to the Gallery of the Underrated. Plus, we look to the darker corners of nature to document the internet Doctor Who troll!

Is this a DVD I see before me? It sure is! Join me as I literally blow the dust off my copy of Doctor Who: The Aztecs and give it the "first thoughts" mini review treatment, it's certainly true that this isn't my favourite first Doctor story but also it's one that has grown on me over the years.

It’s a normal day for the Doctor and Rose, which starts of course with at least 6 impossible things before breakfast then rounded out with being stranded on a planetoid in orbit around a black hole by mid-afternoon. We meet the Ood, a race of strangely faced creatures that remind us of (insert your answer here). Before long, the Doctor finds himself deeply entrenched in man’s timeless battle against evil: avoiding commitment with a clingy companion.

The Ood might be the perfect servants, but no matter how good they are at laundry, nothing can remove Satan’s Pit Stains.
