Welcome to Playing Doctor SPOILERS! If you haven't watched all of Doctor Who through the fourth episode of series seven, "The Power of Three", you don't want to listen to this episode. We had an awesome time at Intervention this year and we can’t wait to go back next year. We met a lot of new friends and saw many of our old friends. We’d like to thank Onezumi and her staff for putting on a terrific show.

The surface of the cube is cold to the touch. Cold but with something surging behind it, like a heart beat.

Like a storm.

You run your fingers along its hard edges, trying to discern something of its function in its form but come up blank. Your mind can’t wrap itself around the concept of it. Too advanced, too alien.

You turn to leave and that’s when it hums to life, glyphs picked out in a pulsating blue flicker across its dark surface. And that’s when you understand, that’s when you hear – a history of Earth in five waves of a sonic screwdriver, real lions at Nelson’s column, the bonobo tariff, four, mad chattering voices uniting in praise...

You turn and run but already you know it’s too late; can already feel the hairs rising on your neck as the bolt of electricity arcs across the void and connects with your heart. And as you slip into the darkness beyond your last thought hangs for a moment in the fading theatre of your subconscious ...

That podcast was totally worth it.

We always love a good conspiracy theory here at TFA and this week we talk about a big one that is heating up the interwebs – could trusted companion, centurion, and Mr. Pond Rory Williams possibly be The Master and not know it (look up watch, fob)? We explore the question. Rita takes you in the deep, dark and brilliant world of HP Lovecraft in her Rita’s Reading Review. We give our top picks for Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Horror movies coming out this fall. Plus we give you the scoop on the Walking Dead, Amanda Tapping joining Supernatural and the future of Avatar 2, Indy 5 and a Mummy remake?

We wrap it up with our totally wicked Doctor Who segment where we talk about Matt Smith setting the interwebs ablaze with his desire to have Hobbitt helmer Peter Jackson direct a Doctor Who episode (and Jackson admitting he is a Whovian) and we review both A Town Called Mercy and The Power of Three.

Benefit for Janet Fielding to be held in January

We here at Sound on Sight were greatly saddened after the recent announcement that actress Janet Fielding has been diagnosed with cancer. Our thoughts go out to her friends and family during this difficult time. Perhaps best know for her work on Doctor Who portraying companion Tegan Jovanka between 1981-1984 , Fielding was also involved in various charities including Project Motorhouse a community outreach program which is seeking to convert a derelict building in Thanet into a mixed-use public venue.

The reaction to Fielding's illness has been swift and inspiring. An impressive roaster of Whovians have joined together to hold a benefit concert in her name on behalf of project Motorhouse. Already no less than Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, David Tennant, Paul Mcgann, and Peter Davison have pledged their time and energy for this worthy cause. Although the event was almost immediately sold out, we Whovians have an opportunity to help out a fellow Companion and raise money for a good cause to boot. For those so willing and able you can contact Project Motorhouse or the UK's leading Cancer research charity Cancer Research UK.

If there’s one thing to be learned from this week’s episode it is to trust in the power of three, that’s why I brought on three special guests to help me dissect it!

Brian Walton, Kyle Anderson and Ewan Anderson (no relation) join me this week to discuss Chris Chibnall’s second contribution to series 7A and I think we all feel pretty much the same about it though some of us have more feelings than others. We also talk a little about what we’re expecting for “The Angels Take Manhattan” and rather surprisingly do so without revealing much (if at all) in the way of spoilers. Episodes like this are the reason I started this podcast.

Gulp!  We're nearly out of new Doctor Who to watch and debate over!  So sit back and listen with a big hot mug of steaming whatever and see what Paul and Phil thought of The Power of Three!  Does Phil actually enjoy an episode or does he still say "meh!"?  Will Paul ever shake off the "little Ern" tag?  Will their ratings systems collapse in on itself?  Besides that, Phil manages to insult Professor Brian Cox and Sir Alan "Amstrad" Sugar as well as bringing Fred Freiberger into the conversation for which he should be ashamed of himself!

And in the news this week, the sad news of Janet Fieldings battle with cancer, the power of Steven Moffat, some Big Finish releases and finally some gift news from the anti-matter universe!
