Big Blue Box Podcast - Episode 56
The Doctor Who Big Blue Box PodcastWe’re almost there Who fans, series 9 is nearly here. We get excited for Capaldi’s return plus but before the mayhem, we have our regular show to do…
The News
Apparently Jenna Coleman is to leave the show to take on the part of Queen Victoria in a new drama for ITV. After a few moments of “Jenna’s leaving” passing by already, it’s 99% confirmed that series 9 will be her last appearance. The BBC have reported on it but we still don’t have an official word yet. Be ready to say goodbye Clara fans.
We now have a list of all the series 9 episode titles. As they’re all two-parters we can’t wait to check these out, have a ganders…
- The Magician’s Apprentice
- The Witch’s Familiar
- Under The Lake
- Before The Flood
- The Girl Who Died
- The Woman Who Lived
- The Zygon Invasion
- The Zygon Inversion
- Sleep No More
- Face The Raven
- Heaven Sent
- Hell Bent
More Torchwood audio is on the way from Big Finish. Fans of the TW show will have seen the Captain Jack adventure Conspiracy announced recently which is to be followed by a second story starring Eve Myles and Kai Owen. We now have more reason to celebrate as a series 2 has been commissioned for early next year. Good times ahead.
“Planet of the Ood” Review
Our last retro-review before we start our reviews of series 9. The Doctor and Donna are on the Ood-Sphere and things aren’t what they seem. Rabid, red-eye’d Ood along with sinister corrupt business types, this can’t be good. Do we leave this one with a twinkle of human kindness towards the Ood slaves or are we left cold outside on the barren landscape?
This week’s trivia question
Last episode we asked you – On what planet are Voltrox found? The answer is – Necros.
This week’s question is – After The Daleks, which is the next the story to see The Doctor visiting Skaro? Give us your answer in the comments below or post it on Twitter or Facebook. Good luck!
It’s all go this week as we gear up for series 9 starting. We hope you enjoyed this week’s show and remember to give us your thoughts on the new stuff. Enjoy The Magician’s Apprentice and until next time – Allons-y!

Doctor Whooch // Episode 064 // Peak Ms. Frizzle
Doctor WhoochIn which we swear a bunch and nobody has any problems with anyone or anything on the show. Yup.
On this week's show, we're talking about the series 8 episode "Into the Dalek" and Brandon does a MadLibs by himself, and it's horrible. HORRIBLE. We also learn about space, maybe, and things get mega adoraballs. Oh, and we get really mad at Moffat and then try to rap with him with some real talk, which almost definitely works.
We'll see you next week for SERIES 9 WHAT.

DIDDLY DUM PODCAST 041 - Hayden's Comedy Hour
Diddly Dum PodcastIt’s been a sad week for the Four Faces of Delusion and so, in place of a standard podcast, to give us a much needed smile, we present the pilot of a little project which Hayden had had bubbling away on the back burner of late. The plan is for us and our guests to step outside the world of Doctor Who and share what tickles our funny bones.
This is an opportunity for all those of Hayden and Matt’s generation to have a good giggle and for all those of Doc’s generation to spit out their Ovaltine in despair over their slippers and shake their heads sadly at what young people are laughing at in this day and age.
We therefore present Hayden’s Comedy Hour.

Terminus Podcast -- Mini Episode 2 - The Promised Land: Doctor Who S8 Overview
Terminus: A Doctor Who PodcastFinally, here's my belated thoughts on Series 8 and the incumbent Twelfth Doctor, which are admittedly -- spoiler! -- a full-on love fest. This was recorded the next day after I recorded my previous episode about the 10th anniversary of New!Who, so I apologize that my voice was still a bit crackly from getting over that sore throat, but I think it sounds basically all right (besides didn't a lot of classic Hollywood sirens have raspy voices? Um... not that I'm a classic Hollywood siren in any sense!).
Again, this is a 'mini-episode' of sorts, and again, its admittedly not that short despite the diminutive episode status, but as I said before, I just wanted to have a breather to rework the schedule going forward, so I did this bonus-style episode. After this, Series 9 is starting up and I'm planning on reviewing those stories as they come out and then, gods willing, hopefully this Podcast-Train will no longer be derailed (also, fingers crossed that there's no homicidal ancient soldier-mummy systematically killing everyone on said Podcast-Train, by the way, because that would just be very, very awkward). Choo choo!
Anyway, join me on this episode as I gush about series 8 of Doctor Who, including extolling the virtues of PCap's lovely eyebrows and Jenna's smashing flapper dress. And, as always, glad to have you all aboard. Enjoy the ride!

Ep-43: Game of Family Blood Nature
Playing Doctor: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week Jennie and Ben are joined by longtime friend of the show Drew Stewart to discuss the eighth and ninth episodes of season 3, Human Nature and Family of Blood.
The episode begins with the Doctor and Martha barely escaping the clutches of an unseen enemy. A frantic Doctor tells Martha she is the key to their escape just before the Doctor wakes up in his PJs with Martha bringing him breakfast in bed. No, Martha's dreams haven't come true, the Doctor has disguised himself as a human school teacher at an all boys boarding school on Earth in 1913. Now they must remain in hiding from the Family of Blood or all will be lost. But when the Doctor's special watch gets stolen just when Martha needs her Doctor the most love is in the air between the human Doctor and the boarding school's Matronly nurse. In the end the Family of Blood learns what the true rage of a Time Lord feels like and the Doctor breaks the heart of another blonde, all the while ignoring Martha.

Episode 120 : Sword of Orion
The Untempered Schism PodcastWhile searching for something to help Ramsay, the Vortisaur the Doctor and Charley ‘rescued’ from the R-101, our two time travellers shortly find themselves on board a salvage craft heading out to a derelict star destroyer. The crew are suspicious of the Doctor and Charley (especially since they’re – again – found over the body of a dead crew member), the captain is mysterious and seems to have her own plans, and the star destroyer itself holds a deadly secret… that is just starting to awaken.

Extra! - Prologue! Prologue! Prologue!
Doctor Who: Verity! This week we throw out our regularly scheduled topic (or rather, shelve it back into the spreadsheet) and talk about BBC Doctor Who prologues! That's right, the BBC surprised us with some series 9 Capaldi goodness, and we just couldn't hold back. In addition, we cover some of the other internet-only prologue action the BBC has tossed our way over the years. (Note: If you're looking for speculation and a frame-by-frame breakdown, you have come to the wrong podcast, my friend.)
Oh yeah, and Erika is over the moon because it's not called a "prequel"!
How do you feel about it? Let us know in the comments!
