    SHOW NOTES

(00:00:00) Our guest on this podcast is FOTS Tim Burrows from the “Missing Episodes” podcast.

(00:03:24) “Film is Fabulous!” is an initiative by film collectors, cinema lovers and vintage television enthusiasts. Its aim is to encourage collectors in the United Kingdom to create a list of their films and to add this with clear instructions to their Will.

(00:03:56) The episode of Tim’s podcast where he interviews Paul Vanezis is Doctor Who: The Missing Episodes Podcast – Special Edition – Film Collectors (dated 13/09/2023) and can be found here.

(00:15:10) Rather than write it ourselves, we thought it easier to lift this description from an online forum: “In 1992, a fan named Roger K. Barrett claimed to have a videotape of The Tenth Planet and offered to sell it to some Doctor Who fans and the BBC, including Ian Levine, a well-known fan and one time unofficial continuity adviser to the programme. However, Barrett turned out to be an alias and the existence of the episode a hoax. In a mini-documentary titled “Missing in Action” (aired during a 1993 BBC One repeat of Planet of the Daleks), Levine said that he experienced “the absolute utter depths of despair when we found out that it was just a blank tape and it was all a hoax”, expressing his desire to get hold of Barrett and “choke him until I found out why he misled everybody.” Unfortunately, hoaxes of this kind are not uncommon in Doctor Who fandom, with people like Barrett more than willing to exploit the hope that copies of the missing episodes may still exist somewhere waiting to be recovered.” The Missing in Action documentary can be seen here and the Roger K. Barrett stuff starts at about 00:04:25.

(00:34:07) The gorilla cage change scene from “Diamonds Are Forever” can be scene here.

(00:55:50) “Five Go Mad in Dorset” was the first of three Five Go Mad specials from the long-running series of The Comic Strip Presents… television comedy films. It first aired on the launch night of Channel 4 (0/11/1982).

How far will two guys go to learn more about The Toymaker? Will they endure telesnaps and amateur animations? They will! With The Giiggle in our not-to-distant future, it was high time we got to know this immortal craftsman with a penchant for games. So we did our best to watch The Celestial Toymaker (and will likely revisit it when the animated version comes out). We also have a boatload of Who News and the slew of story notes, so grab a drink and get comfortable!

Someone has sent literal Death after Doom. She can only outrun it for 24 hours. Unless she can find the Doctor... Tick... Tock... As Doom's final hours come into sharp focus, she'll need to do whatever's necessary to complete her missions, find the Doctor, and escape what increasingly seems like the inevitable. But how best to find the person who can save Doom's life? Will the Doctor's friends be her salvation? Or perhaps the Doctor's enemies will be the route to survival? Doom is about to travel across thousands of years of time, and light years of space in search of her last, best hope. But even if she finds the Doctor, will a person who is all about saving lives help a person whose only job is to take them? Doom's day is almost over. Time is running out. This could be the end. 1. Dawn of an Everlasting Peace by Jacqueline Rayner Venus, 3975. The day of the non-aggression pact. The perfect ironic location for an assassination! But Doom’s mission is about to become much more complicated thanks to an explosive plot to undermine the treaty itself. 2. A Date with Destiny by Robert Valentine A romantic dinner turns life-threatening for an unsuspecting human in 2007. But this time, Doom has competition. And if she loses, then her last chance to find the Doctor could be snatched away. Cue an action-packed chase through the streets of London. But has Doom met her match? 3. The Howling Wolves of Xan-Phear by Simon Clark A warring world of wolves. Doom’s target turns out to be the puppeteer of the warring Xan: a Silent. But what if she’s already completed her mission? How will she know? What if this wasn’t even her mission in the first place? No time to waste. The countdown is on. 4. The Crowd by Lizzie Hopley "Follow the crowd", that’s what they say, right? In this case, however, devastation, murder and destruction follow this particular Crowd - Doom’s next target. But amongst them - an unfamiliar face, with a familiar name. Could this be Doom’s salvation?
