This week, we’re back on Earth, being menaced by giant glowing fibreglass rocks. Incidentally, we’re also discussing the third story in the Key to Time season, The Stones of Blood.

    Buy the story!

In the US, you can buy The Stones of Blood by itself (Amazon US), or as part of the Key to Time box set (Amazon US). In the UK, it’s only available as part of the Key to Time box set. (Amazon UK)

For the first time ever, Brendan was wrong about something. When auditioning to replace the divine Miss Rigg in The Avengers, Susan Engel didn’t act against Moray Laing, the current editor of Doctor Who Adventures magazine. It was actually Moray Watson, who played Sir Robert Muir in Black Orchid.

Fortunately, Nathan was also wrong about Beatrix Lehmann — she went on to appear twice more on screen, in the film The Cat and the Canary (1978) and the miniseries Crime and Punishment (1979).

Evelyn Smythe was one of the Sixth Doctor’s companions in the main Big Finish series of Doctor Who audios.

And in other things that Nathan is wrong about, Gareth Roberts’s comic strip about sentient sand that attacks people was actually written by Paul Cornell and called [Seaside Rendezvous](http://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Seaside_Rendezvous_(comic_story)), published in DWM’s 1991 Summer Special.

This week, we're back on Earth, being menaced by giant glowing fibreglass rocks. Incidentally, we're also discussing the third story in the Key to Time season, The Stones of Blood.

    Buy the story!

In the US, you can buy The Stones of Blood by itself (Amazon US), or as part of the Key to Time box set (Amazon US). In the UK, it's only available as part of the Key to Time box set. (Amazon UK)

    Notes and links

For the first time ever, Brendan was wrong about something. When auditioning to replace the divine Miss Rigg in The Avengers, Susan Engel didn't act against Moray Laing, the current editor of Doctor Who Adventures magazine. It was actually Moray Watson, who played Sir Robert Muir in Black Orchid.

Fortunately, Nathan was also wrong about Beatrix Lehmann -- she went on to appear twice more on screen, in the film The Cat and the Canary (1978) and the miniseries Crime and Punishment (1979).

Evelyn Smythe was one of the Sixth Doctor's companions in the main Big Finish series of Doctor Who audios.

THE WAR DOCTOR VOLUME 01: ONLY THE MONSTROUS review Three new battles for The War Doctor 1.1 The Innocent As the Daleks mass their time fleet for a final assault on Gallifrey, something ancient is waiting for them at Omega One. And a sacrifice must be made. Arch-manipulator and Time Lord strategist, Cardinal Ollistra receives shock news of the Doctor's death. Meanwhile, on the planet Keska, a parochial war has returned to plague a peaceful civilisation after decades of tranquillity. But how can such a war have any connection with the great Time War which, at any one moment in the whole of eternity, could threaten to tear the universe apart? If only the Doctor were still alive. 1.2 The Thousand Worlds With the high-ranking Time Lord Seratrix behind enemy lines, the War Doctor finds himself assigned to a rescue mission. But any room for manoeuvre is severely restricted by an area of space known as the Null Zone. Times have changed on Keska, and a countdown to destruction is beginning. But who are the Taalyens and what is their part in the great and terrifying Dalek plan? 1.3 The Heart of the Battle Trapped in a citadel swarming with Daleks, the Time Lord rescue force must find a way to overcome insurmountable odds. With the Daleks apparently planning to rule the Null Zone, perhaps their thirst for universal conquest and victory has been quenched... The War Doctor doesn't believe so -- but how can he prove it without destroying any chance of peace? As the countdown to the destruction of Keska proceeds, a deadly choice must be made... A choice that will define this Doctor, and perhaps forever cast him in the role of 'monster'. Big Blue Box Podcast - Episode 69

Series 9 may well be over (until the Christmas Special that is) but we’ve still got loads of Who to review and discuss. This week we get stuck into The End of Time Part 1 but before that, everything that’s been happening in the world of Who…

    The News

The BBC have recently made the scripts available for the last two episode of series 9 Heaven Sent and Hell Bent. If you want an insight into what makes the foundation for an episode of Doctor Who then they’re worth a read.

Next week’s Christmas Special the Husbands of River Song have had the broadcast times revealed and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Here in the UK we’re fortunate to get it first at 5:15pm on Christmas Day, followed by our friends in the US and Canada later that day. Other countries such as Australia, New Zealand and some parts of Europe will have to wait until Boxing Day.

Those clever peeps over at Rubbertoe Replicas have given us a detailed close up of the new Sonic Screwdriver to be used by Peter Capaldi. It looks wonderful and I think will all be on our Christmas lists next year. If you can afford it that is!

“The End of Time – Part 1” Review

It’s been a long time coming but Garry has been wanted to chew the fat on this one with Adam for a while. Tennant’s last story is packed full of action, humour and sadness and it’s these things that often divide fans. What do we make of it though… RTD magic or epic failure?

    This week’s trivia question

Last week we asked you – What is the Paternoster Gang’s address? The answer is – 13 Paternoster Row, London.

This week’s question is – Who is the first person the Fourth Doctor offers a jellybaby? Give us your answer in the comments below or post it on Twitter or Facebook. Good luck!

Thank you for your thoughts on our review episode, we cannot wait for Part 2 next week so be sure to give us your reviews for that too, look out for the Facebook post. Until next time – Allons-y!
