Here we review "The Doctor's Daughter". This is also the last recording before The Great Illness of The Fall of 2016. We're really grateful for your patience and support in our long absence from your feeds. Daisy was sick for almost 6 weeks with some unknown, non-deadly, annoying, cold/flu like ick and just didn't have the energy to edit and post. Then came the make up work for work, which again, took time away from this show. Life is finally getting back to mostly normal and Daisy is once again able to do her podcasterly job. We thank you for your support.

You know eventually they’ll make Bible of the Daleks because there’s only so many words you can use for ___ of the Daleks.

Here come the Daleks again. Is there some sort of unwritten pact that they have to appear for every doctor? Because they have so far. At least for us, I’m not counting the reboot (yet). It’s Revelation of the Daleks, written by Eric Saward and aired in March of 1985.

    Show-notes:

7:56 The Star Wars Holiday Special, largely regarded as one of the best 3-course dinners of all time, was aired only once on November 17, 1978 B.C. Written, directed, produced, and baked to a golden brown by the artists formerly known as George Lucas and Jar Jar Binks, it has been made widely available in a number of different formats, such as VHS, Blu Ray, Laserdisc, pdf, and cereal box activity.

Patron of the podcast, Christopher Hamilton Bidmead, returns for a victory lap in what might be the best story of Pete’s final season. Raid at the ready, chums, it’s time to defend the last of humanity against an onslaught of fibreglass woodlice, in Frontios.

    Buy the story!

Frontios was released on DVD in 2011. (Amazon US) (Amazon UK)

In this story, Jeff Rawle plays Plantagenet, the colony’s young and inexperienced leader. Rawle is mostly famous for his role as George in the terrifically clever Channel 4 comedy Drop the Dead Donkey. He would go on to play the Mona Lisa’s gay sidekick in a Sarah Jane Adventures story called Mona Lisa’s Revenge.

Before author and former script editor Christopher Hamilton Bidmead became the patron of Flight Through Entirety, we may have had a somewhat fractious relationship. Here’s his tweet objecting to our discussion of Castrovalva, and here’s his tweet allowing us to quote his previous tweet on our website.

Fans of things that prove the non-existence of a merciful and beneficent God will enjoy The Human Centipede, which is not a million miles away from CHB’s original vision of the Tractators’ unconvincing excavation devices. Fans of things slightly less gruesome might enjoy South Park’s take on that film, HUMANCENTiPAD. Best not to Google either of them.

Peter Arne was originally cast as Mr Range, before his tragic murder. He starred in two Cathy Gale episodes of The Avengers: Warlock and The Golden Eggs. He was also in an black and white Emma Peel episode called Room Without a View.

Ludwig Wittgenstein’s only full-length philosophical work was called Tractatus. Coincidence? We think not.

And now, insects. (Oh, and arachnids.) In the 1974 film Phase IV, colonies of ants develop intelligence and start to attack the human race. And these days, who can blame them? You might also enjoy Joan Collins being attacked by papier mâché ants in Empire of the Ants (1977), and spiders attacking William Shatner, probably, in Kingdom of the Spiders (1977).

Big Finish have recorded an improbably long series of Doctor Who audios set between Planet of Fire and The Caves of Androzani, starring Peter Davison as the Doctor and Nicola Bryant as Peri. These include Red Dawn and The Church and the Crown.

    Doctor Who in 10 Seconds

These days, it takes Flight Through Entirety more than 45 minutes to discuss a Doctor Who story. Fans with better things to do with their time will enjoy Brendan’s ten-second summaries of Doctor Who’s earliest stories in Doctor Who in 10 Seconds. So far, he has managed to summarise the first seven seasons of Doctor Who, starring William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and the first of five seasons of Jon Pertwee. To watch the show, check out the playlist on YouTube.

Grace Jones has stolen all of our microphones and knocked us unconscious, and so we’ve actually been unable to finish our flight through the entirety of the Roger Moore canon in time for Christmas. We’ll be back in the new year for A View to a Kill.

Listeners will learn many amazing facts including what the First Doctor would sound like if he were a Klingon, which character from the 1989 Seventh Doctor adventure Battlefield is actually a talking penguin, why the gang is thankful for the existence of Doctor Who, and what makes the 2001 Big Finish 8th Doctor adventure Minuet In Hell quiet possibly the worst Doctor Who audio ever recorded!

*If you live in the Twin Cities and enjoy nerdy live theater, please consider seeing Kelvin Hatle as Klingon Scrooge in A Klingon Christmas Carol and Joshua English Scrimshaw as Paul Bunyan God of Lumber in the Minnesota-themed Avengers spoof Averagers Christmas War!

Synopsis This title was released in October 2016. It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until December 31st 2016, and on general sale after this date. A special feature-length story celebrating 10 years of Torchwood! The Torchwood Archive "Welcome, visitor. The Torchwood Archive provides a complete history of our Institute from its distant beginnings to the present day. When we founded our great enterprise in the year of our Lord 1879, we decreed that there should be a record of this achievement, stored at the very furthest limits of the British Empire. By visiting you are spreading that legacy, perhaps out through the skies. For now, I shall bid you a good day and welcome you to the Torchwood Archive. Do, please look around." The Torchwood Archive is a forgotten asteroid in the centre of a great war. Jeremiah is its first visitor in many centuries. He's come to learn something very important. And the ghosts of Torchwood are waiting for him. 01:20 (GMT) - 2 Dec 2016

Sodomy and Hellfire! Is it time for another episode of The Oncoming Storm already? Rationally speaking, it has been two weeks since the last episode, so history tells us another must come out today. But why be so rational? Josh, Ashley, Jeff, and Rachel are here in episode 188 to determine if they should stick to rationality, or just blow it all off and go and play with the gynoids. The topic, of course, is Christmas on a Rational Planet by Lawrence Miles. The Doctor, Roz, and Chris must stave off the forces of the Carnival Queen and her irrational forces of Cacophony... but are they making the right choice? And no discussion of Miles's first book would be complete without complete tangents about the man himself. There are lots of those this episode, but with a figure like Lawrence Miles, how can you not? The Oncoming Storm... Buggery and Damnation, This time we're got the most creative swearing you'll ever find in a Doctor Who Story.
