Episode 97: Cut to The Chase
Something WhoAfter a brush with conspiracy theories, here we are back with Something Who podcast Episode 97 with Doctor Who fandom's own musical maestro, Jess Jurkovic, joining Rick, Giles and Richard.
We look at 1st Doctor story The Chase from the original Season 2, and after that examine 15th Doctor story The Devil's Chord from the new Season 1. This episode consists of the first half of that conversation, featuring The Chase.
Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com
Jess is a brilliant pianist and has an extraordinary YouTube channel on which you can find his amazing The Dudley Simpson IS Doctor Who Project.
Rick posts on social media as @brickpandorica, where you can find fantastic pictures of his Lego models of Doctor Who moments, such as the one forming our cover art this episode.
Giles' book A History of the Universe in 21 Stars: (and 3 Imposters) can be found in all good bookshops and also here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/History-Universe-21-Stars-Imposters/dp/1787394654/
Richard has another podcast with co-hosts Emily & Nicola, called "If It's Hurting, It's not Working" and it's a fun and informative look at work - why we work, how we work, and what makes a great job. Go to https://ifhurtnotwork.podbean.com/ and https://ifhurtnot.work for more.
We mention fairly extensively Gav Rymill's new video where he highlights some of the production errors in episode 6 of the Chase. If you've not seen it yet, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/cKpHYqe4LWM, with several other Chase-related videos on the same feed.
The Something Who logo, which features prominently on all our cover art was designed for us by Bea Garrido. She's a really talented artist, who you can find on Twitter using @BeaGarrido00, where, among other artworks, you can see some remarkable paintings of characters from Doctor Who.

Who's He? Podcast 464 | Never welcome in the land of the blind | Dot and Bubble Review
Who's He?In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast....
Review - Dot and Bubble
There is a lot to unpack this week as Paul and Phil look at Dot and Bubble, the latest episode of Doctor Who. What on the surface appears to be a story of the dangers of social media, it really is about something much more insidious and lets Phil show his true colours when it come to the rich elite. And influencers. Ok, he doesn't like them.

DWBRcast 262 - Dot and Bubble!

#247 - It's a Vibe
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Russell T Davies has written a new Doctor Who story that he describes as Welsh folk horror in which he packs in a lot to 45 minutes, including the obligatory Susan Twist, creepy pub denizens, and an homage to other ghostly stories. We were a little surprised to have a Doctor-lite episode in a season that is a mere eight episodes long. What caused the Doctor to vanish? Is the fairy circle in the shape of the TARDIS console? Did that mysterious space and time machine somehow create the circle and the time loop? The opening is from a Wales tourism advertisement, and the closing is from "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles. We recorded this episode on 28 May 2024.

Lifeforce
Waffle On PodcastWaffle On about Lifeforce
Oh this episode is a corker, its a divisional episode and its two against one becaue we have a special guest. We last saw him wearing a kilt and swinging a sword during our Highlander episode, well this time Mr David Ray is more sensibly dressed yet still full of passion. Kell is in agreement, Meds, not so much which of course makes great content.
Patrick Stewart pops up in this along with some great effects (for its time) and a naked woman wondering around kissing people to death. Not a bad way to go all in all.
As always please do share our podcast with anyone who can put up with us.

Podcastica Episode 311: 73 Yards OR 219 Feet
Podcastica73 Yards is one of those rare episodes where we can get away with a pun this literal in our title! But it's also an absolute banger of a Welsh horror story! RTD has pretty much knocked this one out of the park, but that doesn't mean that we aren't left with a great deal of questions about some unanswered things from this story and the greater mystery at work this season. So let's dive into it!

Hollywood Remakes
The Doctor Who ShowWhile we are in the middle of weekly hot takes relating to season one of Doctor Who (yes, that's officially what it's called, we don't set the rules), we thought it might be fun this time around for our longer, monthly show to do something completely different and take a flight of fancy into what Doctor Who stories we would remake with Hollywood directors.
Before then, news and short topics from the past month including our thoughts on the ratings war raging among fandom at present, Varada Sethu arriving 'early' in Doctor Who, Ncuti Gatwa heading for the theatre (darling), and more.

Review - 73 Yards
This time Phil and Paul get wrapped up in folk horror with 73 Yards, the latest episode in this series of Doctor Who. But is it folk horror? Is it political satire or is it a time travel story. Well, it's all of the above which leaves Phil scratching his head and continues his stance of being a miserable little podcaster, while Paul as usual is the voice of sanity and just enjoys this weeks episode.
Also, they discuss the news that the last two episodes of this series are heading to UK cinemas, which turns Phil into a red faced gammon.
