Radio Free #641 - Bazalgette City
Radio Free SkaroThis week on Radio Free Skaro, it's time for the nation's favourite game show* (*not an actual game show) as we dive headlong into another edition of the Miniscope. This week, it's director Ed Bazalgette, who guided the recent episodes "The Girl Who Died", "The Woman Who Lived", and "The Return of Doctor Mysterio" into port. What did the Three Who Rule think of the former guitarist from the 1980s band The Vapors and his work in Doctor Who? Listen and find out! Also, with Doctor Who being produced under a cone of silence as of late, early discussion veers from Doctor Who on Twitch to Amazon reviews to Star Wars to Star Trek and so on. Be warned.

TDP 568: THE PETERLOO MASSACRE Main Range 210
Tin Dog PodcastThey say there'll be thousands pouring into Manchester tomorrow. From all over the county, north and south. It'll be a piece of history. People will remember this!" Lost in the smog of the Industrial Revolution, the TARDIS crashes four miles south of Manchester, in the grounds of Hurley Hall - a grand mansion belonging to a local factory owner, a proudly self-made man. But while Hurley dreams of growing richer still on the wealth of secret knowledge locked up in the Doctor's time and space machine, his servants hope only for a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. His young maid Cathy, for instance, whom Nyssa learns is looking forward to joining the working people's march to St Peter's Field, in the heart of the city. There'll be speeches and banners and music. It'll be like one big jamboree... Or so she thinks. For the city's establishment have called in their own private militia, to control the crowd. One of the darkest days in Manchester's history is about to unfold - and the Doctor, Nyssa and Tegan are right in the thick of it. Written By: Paul MagrsDirected By: Jamie Anderson Cast Peter Davison (The Doctor), Sarah Sutton (Nyssa), Janet Fielding (Tegan), Hayley Jayne Standing (Cathy), Robbie Stevens (Hurley), Gerard Kearns (William), Philip Labey (Thomas Tyler), Wayne Forester (Walton/Roberts/Rev Small), Liz Morgan(Mrs Hurley/Sister). Other parts performed by members of the cast. Producer David RichardsonScript Editor Alan Barnes

Episode 206: Sea of Leeches
Trust Your DoctorThis is the uncrossable leech sea.
This is it. We finally made it to the very first episode that Dylan watched of Doctor Who. Well before this podcast was even a glimmer in either of their eyes, there was The Next Doctor. It was written by Russell T. Davies and aired on December 25, 2008.
Show-notes:
10:09 Labyrinth is a Jim Henson movie starring David Bowie.
16:56 I guess nobody really knows how long the London area has been inhabited, but it’s definitely thousands of years.
20:12 Thomas Paine’s most famous revolutionary pamphlets are Common Sense and American Crisis.
28:15 It’s called a belt.
36:14 Simulacra and Simulation is a book by Baudrillard.
53:22 Here’s Stephen Fry’s language rant (actually part of a larger essay).

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 43, Curse of Fenric Part 3
Doctor Who - The High CouncilIan Briggs, Nicholas Briggs or Nicholas Mallet? Let me rephrase the question. We have faith in each other but have no idea what the Doctor has faith in. What is up with Sorin's scarf and should we have faith in that? But if they mention inhuman again, Josh may throw something through the computer screen and his rifle is cocked. Is it weird that both Ace's grandfather is named Frank and also died in a fire? Mind blown. Ace is not a little girl anymore and her distraction is the strangest bit of dialogue in all of Doctor Who history. Onto Episode 3 kids - it's over the top, strange, filled with over-exaggerated metaphors. Enjoy the banter! After all, it's raining men. Hallalujah.

079: Meglos
The Krynoid Podcast"Haven't I seen you somewhere before?"
Dunno. Have you watched The Golden Voyage of Sinbad?
Hurrah! It's double helpings of Tom Baker in 1980's Meglos, one bristlier and greener around the gills than the other.
It's a saga of succulents, savants and power supplies wherein Romana is fondled by a bunch of flowers, K9 is assaulted by a bunch of light opera extras and the Doctor is plagued by a bunch of pricks.
Debate rages between the Wigs and the lunatic fringe and the poor man's John Le Mesurier is caught dithering in the middle.
Will Meglos succeed? Is Brotadac's anagram apposite? Will anyone remember any of this in the morning?
Listen in as Jim and Martin discuss ... sorry... what were we talking about again...?
