Alternate title: Killing is the Most Perfect Form of Distraction. Such is life I suppose. This week Kian and Dylan talk about clone. No, not Orphan Black, it’s The Invisible Enemy, written by Bob Baker and David Martin and aired in October of 1977. Neither of us have even watched Orphan Black.

Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 50 minutes and 32 secondsSometimes even accepting isn’t enough.
This week Kiyan and Dylan continue their Chris Boucher phase and explore his second serial in a row. That makes him just the second writer to write two consecutive serials, after Ian Stuart Black. The serial this week is The Robots of Death, aired in January and February of 1977.

Episode 92: What Does God Need With a Spaceship?
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 50 minutes and 0 secondsStar Trek V: The Final Frontier was not the best Star Trek film.
This week Kiyan and Dylan boldly go where many people have gone before to discover the Doctor’s new companion, Leela! Not to be confused with other characters named Leela that are famous in other franchises. How confusing. The serial of introduction is The Face of Evil, written by Chris Boucher and aired in January of 1977.
Sidenote, Chris Boucher was script editor and not show runner. Minor error, large difference. On the upshot, here’s the character who crossed over between Doctor Who and Blake’s 7, possibly establishing them in the same universe. Decorative Vegetable Blake’s 7 podcast confirmed?

Episode 91: Doctor Who: Age of Ultron
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 51 minutes and 44 seconds“You’re all just puppets in my political game” – Chancellor “Ultron” Goth.
This week we learn that Dylan doesn’t know the difference between commissioned and decommissioned. To be fair, flammable and inflammable mean the same thing, so… honest mistake. Anyway, the serial at hand for Kiyan and Dylan this week is The Deadly Assassin, written by Robert Holmes and aired in October and November of 1976.

Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 51 minutes and 11 secondsWow, a lot looks really weird in that title.
This week Kiyan and Dylan discuss hands. Like all sorts of hands. Human hands, Kastrian Hands, Sarah Jane’s Hands. Why Sarah Jane’s in particular? Because it’s her final serial, The Hand of Fear, written by Bob Baker and David Martin and aired in October of 1976.

Episode 89: Sacrifice Sarah to Davros
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 41 minutes and 28 secondsAll hail the mighty Davros. I think.
This week Kiyan and Dylan accidentally shoe-horn Davros into a non-Dalek serial. Actually, Dylan won’t lie, he chose this title for the sweet, sweet SEO. This week the non-Dalek serial that they covered was The Masque of Mandragora, written by Lewis Marks and aired in September of 1976.

Episodes 88: Dial Up Saves the Day!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 58 minutes and 20 secondsBeeeeep boop boop beeeep.
Disclaimer, what we said about John Leven is based only on stories we’ve seen or read on the internet. They can be faked. Do not necessarily believe everything you hear, it’s possible we (or they) were (and are) wrong.
This week Kiyan and Dylan…. release late, and then silently swear at the cricket on the recording. It stops about 3 minutes in, don’t worry. Well he returns for a short encore or two and then disappears. Maybe he died. Anyway the serial at hand is The Seeds of Doom, written by Robert Banks Stewart and aired in January through March of 1976.

Episode 87: Now That's What I Call Doctor Who 57
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 41 minutes and 26 secondsThey say Steven Moffat is a big contributor to Now That’s What I Call Doctor Who: Greatest Hits Revisted 3.
This week Kiyan and Dylan explain their way through The Brain of Morbius, and successfully avoid accidentally joining a cult. The Brain of Morbius was written by Robert Bland (Terrance Dicks and Robert Holmes), and was aired in January of 1976. Just January.
(Ok so The Eight Leg two parter and the Morbius two parter are different seasons of the Eighth Doctor Adventures, but let’s not forget that a good deal of the other stories are greatest hits revisited too. I.e. the return of the Wirrn, the Zygons, Susan, the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Ice Warriors.)

Episode 84: When The Scarf Hits The Fan
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 42 minutes and 7 secondsThere were little scarf bits everywhere. It was a disaster to clean.
This week Kiyan and Dylan put forward their life’s work in harnessing the power of podcasting. They successfully harness pure podcast ether to create this episode about Planet of Evil, which was written by Louis Marks and aired in September and October of 1975. Watch out, pure podcast ether is toxic in large doses.

Episode 83: Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 43 minutes and 59 secondsAnd then like magic, it works! Guaranteed, every time.
This week Kiyan and Dylan return to their regularly scheduled host set-up with just the two of them attempting to explain a serial once again. This week the serial at hand is Terror of the Zygons, which was written by Robert Banks Stewart and aired in August and September of 1975. Harry Sullivan leaves in this episode, so there’s a retrospective at the end of the episode.
This was the base Dylan was referring to. Apparently it appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me, and not the one with the lotus (You Only Live Twice). The Bond Films all kind of blend together at some point.

Episode 82: Cyber Action Man Ft. The Krynoid Podcatst
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 47 minutes and 10 secondsYes, it’s another collaboration.
You’ve heard Kiyan and Dylan, you’ve heard Jim and Martin (maybe), now hear them together in all of their glory! Listen in and find out if the crossover is as exciting as that previous sentence makes it out to be. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be that exciting. Together the four discuss Revenge of the Cybermen, written by Gerry Davis and aired in April and May of 1975. After finishing the story, stick around for a few more discussions on various Doctor Who related ideas.

This week Kiyan and Dylan explore one of the juggernauts of classic Doctor Who (See what I did there? The Juggernauts is an audio drama featuring Davros, the Daleks, and the Mechonoids [from The Chase]). Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 31 minutes and 8 secondsSee, there’s a very fine line between dead… and almost dead.
In this episode, Kiyan and Dylan take about 30 minutes to cover about 50 minutes of serial content, giving them approximately a 3:5 time compression rate or something. Dylan has an honorary degree in technobabble and he approves this completely made up measurement. The serial at hand this week was The Sontaran Experiment, written by Bob Baker and David Martin and aired in February and March of 1975.

Dylan has an honorary degree in technobabble and he approves this completely made up measurement. The serial at hand this week was The Sontaran Experiment, written by Bob Baker and David Martin and aired in February and March of 1975.

Episode 79: Stationed Outside the Station
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 41 minutes and 26 secondsThe guards just hang out in space.
This week Kiyan and Dylan venture into what is supposedly one of the best classic who stories and then create what is supposedly our most recent episode. I’m not actually sure if it is, I mean, it will be until Episode 80 comes out. Anyway this week they watched The Ark in Space, which aired in January and February of 1975.

This week Kiyan and Dylan… take a few jabs at Pertwee (who hasn’t quite left us yet apparently) and the move forward into Tom Baker’s era with Robot. Robot was written by the previous script editor, Terrance Dicks, and was aired in December of 1974 and January of 1975.

Episode 76: A Genetic Coincidence Pass
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 1 minute and 0 secondsIt’s like a free pass, but not really because it kind of doesn’t exist.
This week Kiyan and Dylan approach the end of the Third Doctor’s era, and for some reason he decides (somewhat poorly) to revisit Peladon. It’s not a very good serial, as you will find out soon enough. On the bright side, there’s lots of Alpha Centuri and Ice Warrior voice imitations from both Kiyan and Dylan! The name of this week’s serial is The Monster of Peladon, and it was written by Brian Hayles and it aired in March and April of 1974.
Here is the history of printing wikipedia page. Apparently inkjet and dot matrix printers both existed by 1974.

Episode 75: The Dalek Syndrome
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 52 minutes and 16 secondsSyndrome was a pretty good villain. Oh wait we’re talking Daleks.
This week Kiyan and Dylan begin the end of the beginning eras of Doctor Who. If that makes sense. Well basically they’re coming to the end of the Third Doctor’s era, and it’s pretty clearly running down. Terrance Dicks, Barry Letts, and Jon Pertwee have all decided by this time to leave the show at the end of the season. The serial that has apparently so blatantly signposted this end of an era is Death to the Daleks, written by Terry Nation and aired in February and March of 1974.

Episode 74: That's Making Life Take the Lemons Back
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 9 minutes and 21 secondsAnd then it’s making life not exist anymore!
This week Kiyan and Dylan dive into Malcolm Hulke’s final serial, Invasion of the Dinosaurs. To their pleasant surprise, this weeks serial featured quite a fair bit of character development for the UNIT crew, with Benton, Yates, and The Brig all getting some time in the spotlight. Invasion of the Dinosaurs was aired in January and February of 1974.
By the way, the reference no one would get was to Shrek the Musical. You’re welcome.
Here’s a link to the first volume of that ebook by Hugh Pearson: The Lost Lords of Time: Recons Volume One

Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 14 minutes and 6 secondsDon’t mind me, just gonna prop open the door so Jo can come back.
This week Kiyan and Dylan say goodbye to Jo Grant in her final serial, The Green Death. And even in her final moments Dylan and Kiyan remain divided in their opinion of her. Thanks Jo, you were definitely not a scientist. The Green Death was written by Robert Sloman and aired in May and June of 1973.

Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 7 minutes and 51 secondsGoes great with the Hard Rock Cafe!
The topic of discussion this week is Planet of the Daleks. Kiyan and Dylan were… not impressed with it as a resolution to Frontier In Space. But no matter, they still had a good time explaining it. Planet of the Daleks was written by Terry Nation and it aired in April and May of 1973.
