Radio Free Skaro

- Description:
- Radio Free Skaro is possibly the most popular, most prolific and charmingly irreverent (but never irrelevant) Doctor Who podcast around. Since August 2006, hosts Warren (in Vancouver, BC) and Steven (in Edmonton, AB) have provided listeners with their brand of amusing Doctor Who praise and punishment. A year later, Chris (in Amherst, NS) was added to the team, and The Three Who Rule were born. Recommended by Doctor Who Magazine, Radio Free Skaro provides an entertaining and diverting listen for the diehard or casual Doctor Who fan. New episodes usually appear on Sundays, following a loose magazine format of the three hosts discussing the news and events of the past week in the worlds of Doctor Who, Torchwood, and the Sarah Jane Adventures. They have also recorded special commentary podcasts for classic series and new series episodes of Doctor Who along with interviews of some of the brightest of the Doctor Who luminaries. Radio Free Skaro is also the official podcast of Gallifrey One, the world's largest and longest-running annual Doctor Who convention.

Radio Free Skaro #588 - Doctor Who and The Genesis of the Cybermen
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 49 minutes and 31 secondsLive from Gloucestershire, it's Radio Free Skaro! With Steven visiting the United Kingdom, it seemed only right to watch and review this week's Doctor Who (the show, not the character) in the nation where it was created. And so noted Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell and esteemed podcaster Dave Probert join Steven in talking about "World Enough and Time", a dazzling writing effort from Steven Moffat, directed with chilling precision by Rachel Talalay, and acted to perfection by the main cast. Listen in to talk about the episode, about how the promotion of the series may have muted its impact, and a live stats report to the delight of all!

Radio Free Skaro #587 - Death By Scotland
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 12 minutes and 52 secondsGloom, doom, and light-eating tentacle dogs are the topic du jour for the Three Who Rule, as they viewed the Rona Munro penned, Charles Palmer helmed "The Eaters of Light" and formed cogent, well reasoned analyses of the third to last episode of Series 10, and didn't at all speculate wildly about Mondasian Cybermen, bearded former Masters, Missy's weird turn towards mercy and more. And speaking of Masters, Big Finish just announced that Derek Jacobi will return to his "Utopia" role as the Doctor's best enemy with a new series of "War Master" audios, which recent BF convert Warren is feverishly anticipating! Plus Moffatt and Chibnall interviews, side glances at Funk Pops, and...yes, stats. Now go eat a fried Mars Bar and stand around on a dark Scottish moor contemplating the futility of existence! Go on!

Radio Free Skaro #577 – Second Chances
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 22 minutes and 16 secondsIt’s a week before new Doctor Who, which means a veritable tsunami of news, previews and madness, including the surprise reveal that John Simm will come back as the Master and possibly cause a shipping paradox the likes of which hasn’t been seen since SuperWhoLock! In other surprises, Britbox announced they’re streaming most of Classic Who, “The Return of Doctor Mysterio” was nominated for a Hugo, and we have a new segment called Second Chances looking at that very story with Titan Comic Tenth Doctor scribe Nick Abadzis!

Thrill to Steven's knowledge of televisual minutiae, twirl to Kyle's searing insights, sashay to Chris's detailed analysis and recoil at the sight of Warren's brain melting at the (in his sole opinion) grinding tedium of the early Hartnell era! Plus news like the first official Series 10 trailer, but who needs that when you've got survivors escaping an ordeal and an ambush, thus expediting a rescue!

Radio Free Skaro #573 - Stevie Nicks
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 37 minutes and 10 secondsNo sooner did we joke about Mondasian Cybermen in Series 10 than they magically appear in a publicity shot with one Peter Capaldi! While we'd like to claim prophetic wisdom in this matter, we had no inside knowledge and this was likely a "going out in style" wish from one Mr. Capaldi, and we are all the better for it. P-Cap will also be gracing the small, inconsequential town of Calgary, AB for Calgary Expo at the end of April, to the delight of bouffant enthusiasts across the Canadian prairies! And in other good news, we have two interviews to round out our Gallifrey coverage, one with the voice of the Daleks, Cybermen (plus many others) and Big Finish man about town Nicholas Briggs, and the other with writer, director, actor and Dalek operator Nicholas Pegg! Do we have the right? Of course we do!
