Podcastica - Episode 273: Gallifrey One 2023 Day One Recap!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 28 minutes and 20 secondsHELLO FELLOW WHOVIANS! We have gotten coffee, put together our podcasting gear, and gave you our Day 1 thoughts LIVE from the lobby at Gallifrey One!
-
Podcastica - Episode 272: Aliens of London & World War Three OR Return of the Floppy Monsters!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 3 minutes and 50 secondsGALLIFREY ONE IS UPON US! But first, The Doctor and Rose return to the “present day” a mere 12 hours since they…wait, what? Okay, I’m getting late breaking news that the TARDIS still doesn’t have the best aim. They’ve actually returned 12 months since they last left! But, strangely enough, just in time for opportunistic aliens to whip the planet into a panic and slag the whole place in order to sell it off in the biggest fire sale ever! Toss in the introduction of Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North and you have the Aliens of London nearly starting World War 3!
-
Podcastica Episode 271: The Green Death OR Terror with a Side of Flies
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 26 minutes and 39 secondsThis time around, friends, we wrap up Season 10 of Classic Who with a look at The Green Death! That's right, the Doctor and Jo return to Earth just in time to take on a whole lot of craziness at a mine in Wales! The Doctor also makes that long-awaited trip to Metebelis III and that becomes one of the funniest parts of the whole serial! But all good things must come to an end as Jo chooses to depart at the end and we're hit with one of the more (if not most) emotional scenes in recent memory.
-
Podcastica Episode 270: Planet of the Daleks OR Not Actually Skaro
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 16 minutes and 47 secondsThis time we continue our trek through Season 10 with Planet of the Daleks! It's basically the second half of the planned 12-parter with Frontier in Space, but this time instead of political intrigue and The Master, we get a whole lot of Daleks, a planet that can't decide if it's a jungle or a frozen wasteland (ice volcanoes, really...), invisible natives, and the return of the Thals who've now started spaceflight! The pacing is pretty good, Jo is (again) amazing, and there's a fair bit to enjoy with Planet of the Daleks!
-
Podcastica Episode 269: Frontier in Space OR No Corridors, Only Cells!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 11 minutes and 28 secondsHappy New Year, friends! We're starting off 2023 with a six-parter that was almost a 12-parter that could have probably been told better in four parts. Yep, it's Frontier in Space! We've got Earth-Draconian tensions at an all-time high, Ogrons working for The Master who is ultimately working for the Daleks, plus there's a big random orange blob! It's all sorts of craziness...and did we mention there's lots of time spent in jail cells?
-
Podcastica Episode 268: Nightmare of Eden OR This is Your Brain on Mandrels
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 2 minutes and 59 secondsDrugs are bad, mmmkay? That's right, friends, we close out 2022 with an absolute goofball of a story with NIGHTMARE OF EDEN! What happens to your story with an anti-drug message when the director quits part way through principal photography? Well, you get a story much like this. It's not a complete disaster by any means and we're able to cherry pick the best parts. And on a programming note, we're going to take the Christmas holiday off and will be back with our next ep right at the start of 2023! Thanks so much for listening this year.
-
Podcastica Episode 267: The Abominable Snowmen OR Slenderman's Resting Smirkface
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 14 minutes and 42 secondsWe love a good animation (and decry the fact that this appears to be the last one, unless maybe Disney is going to inject some cash that way...please!) and The Abominable Snowmen looks gorgeous! There is lots to like in this story, even though we felt it probably could have been told in four episodes. So grab your parka and pay respects at the monastery because it's time to go after The Abominable Snowmen!
-
Podcastica Episode 266: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. OR Someone Set Us Up the Bomb
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 20 minutes and 9 secondsWell, we've been saying for a while that we've wanted to watch that other Peter Cushing Dr. Who film and, friends, that time is now! DALEKS' INVASION EARTH 2150 A.D. (note the lack of articles and prepositions, please). This is a fun ride! For as goofy and weird as these Dr. Who movies were, there's a lot of action, some incredible stunts, and (spoilers!) we give it a perfect 10 on our Duggan Scale! Join us as we take a look way back to 1966 with Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.!
-
Podcastica Episode 265: The Power of The Doctor OR When Does Ten Equal Fourteen?
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 50 minutes and 43 secondsWell, friends, we've all had a week to rewatch and process our feelings about The Power of The Doctor (as well as all the news that dropped right after that aired)! This time we're going to spend quite a bit looking at this adventure, what it means to us, how well it caps off the Chibnall era & Jodie's run, and also talk a bit about what the future holds (and also gripe a little about how long it'll be before we have some new Doctor Who on the telly again).
-
Episode 264: Asylum of the Daleks OR Stir Eggs, 8 Min.
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 43 secondsWe're back, friends! Thanks for waiting that extra week! Totally appreciated. This time around we look at Asylum of the Daleks in which Amy & Rory are on the rocks, The Doctor is somehow both the predator of the Daleks & their temporary savior, and we meet Oswin who's currently working on her own series for Food Network, but it's not going so well. How long are you supposed to "stir" those "eggs" again? And will no one think of the milk!? We also talk about the trailer (finally!) for The Power of the Doctor as well as the super exciting Gallifrey One news!
-
Podcastica Episode 263: Resurrection of the Daleks OR And then More Murdering
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 8 minutes and 48 secondsLONDON 1984! Apparently a bleak hellscape in which the Daleks have a team of mercenary human clones (with helmets we're surprised didn't become a marketing opportunity) working to unearth Davros while also infiltrating various areas of human culture. See, there's a lot happening in Resurrection of the Daleks, but instead of anything getting resurrected, lots (and lots) of characters get gunned down...often for no reason. This is an unusual Doctor Who story if only for that fact, but it's one we'd have to review eventually!
-
Podcastica Episode 262: The Keeper of Traken OR Leave It to Beevers
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 59 minutes and 50 secondsWell, this time we finally can mark Season 18 off our checklist (because we reviewed Logopolis a while ago...go check it out) with The Keeper of Traken! If reviewing almost a whole season in one stretch has shown us anything, it's that this season was fraught with issues. But they still put out some good stories (and ultimately gave Tom a satisfying send off). The Keeper of Traken had to not only further the season, but also introduce what would become a new companion and also reintroduce The Master. There are some stumbles, but they mostly stick the landing.
-
Podcastica Episode 261: Warrior's Gate OR Mobile Suit Gundan Wing
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 5 minutes and 35 secondsThis time we round out the E-Space Trilogy and nearly all of Season 18 with Warrior's Gate! While we're not over the moon about this particular story, there are definitely reasons why this one suffered a bit during production. We can see where they were headed, but they don't quite get there. Plus, we really wish Romana & K9 got more of a goodbye than they did. As always, however, we try to find the best parts and this time we have to admit that Adric has a pretty impressive move! What was it? You've got to listen to find out!
-
Podcastica Episode 260: State of Decay OR Immature Hominoid, Non-Hostile
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 11 minutes and 39 secondsState of Decay may seem like another chance for the BBC to pull out its Shakespearean era costumes and give them some exercise, but the story (a Terrence Dicks classic) has a rich tapestry behind it that not only expands Gallifreyan lore, but also gives justification for the tropey vampire acting in this story! I mean, a race of ancient giant vampires vs. the Time Lords...like how has Big Finish not done a boxset on this yet? Anyway, we loved State of Decay (despite the many production challenges it had) and we think you will, too!
-
Podcastica Episode 259: Full Circle OR The Marshmen Have the TARDIS
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 52 minutes and 44 secondsWell, they can't all be stellar, but we always try to find the elements we like best in a Doctor Who story. That's the case with the opener to the E-Space Trilogy, Full Circle! Not only are we introduced to Adric, but we meet his brother (who definitely has some Oasis vibes), we peruse some binders, and we kind of wonder what tastes so odd in this fruit! Someone find the pilot and strap in because it's time to talk about Full Circle!
-
Podcastsica Episode 258: Meglos OR Brotadac's Burgundy Dreamcoat
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 16 secondsWhile trying to repair K9, The Doctor and Romana find themselves in a time loop set up by an evil cactus named Meglos who has apparently inhabited the body of poor Nigel from Accounting and has a crazy plan to pretend to be the Doctor in order to steal a geometric shape of extreme power and, you know, rule the universe or some such craziness. Can the Doctor and Romana defeat Meglos, satisfy Brotadac’s lust for a nice coat, and prevent the destruction of Tigella? Well, grab that agave and strap in because…it…must…be…MEGLOS!!
-
Podcastica Episode 257: The Leisure Hive OR Copy! Paste! Pangol!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 0 minutes and 43 secondsUp to now, we hadn't done any stories from Season 18 shy of Logopolis and we were missing out! This time we look at The Leisure Hive and while it starts with a bit of a slow-burn murder mystery it soon cranks up the bonkers with some of the greatest cliffhangers we've ever seen, a completely WTF ending, and a race of aliens who die when they've lost all the blueberries from their heads! Get ready for some wild blue screen magic with The Leisure Hive!
-
Podcastica Episode 256: Midnight OR Shamblebobbledibbledoodle
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 58 minutes and 15 secondsFourteen years ago today! Midnight premiered and gave us an episode that, at the time, we weren't all that impressed by. And now, in 2022, we revisit Midnight and are pleasantly surprised to say that we were totally wrong with our initial impressions back in 2008. Midnight is really good and, frankly, the paranoia and mob mentality hits a little stronger today than it probably did then.
-
Podcastica Episode 255: The Horns of Nimon OR Full Send Soldeed
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 55 minutes and 58 secondsTHE NIMON BE PRAISED! It's a new episode of Podcastica!! That's right, this time we get an absolute masterclass in overacting from Soldeed as he works to bring about the Second Skonnos Empire all while being absolutely played by the Nimon who are just looking for a new planet to invade. Add in some peak 4th Doctor, Romana during her professional horseriding outfit days, and minotaur creatures in some wicked KISS boots and you have yourself a recipe for an awesome bit of Doctor Who!
-
Podcastica Episode 254: Planet of Fire OR Logar! Of the Hill People!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 10 minutes and 33 secondsWowwee wow wow! Friends, before we get into PLANET OF FIRE, we have a ton of Who News to discuss because in the last two weeks we've had the reveal of the 14th Doctor, news that Tennant and Tate are returning for something to coincide with the 60th, and maybe we have a new companion cast? Anyway, we cover all that and then get into the introduction of Peri, the departure of Turlough, and the merciful (to the audience) death of Kamelion all while The Master is try to solve a teensy problem he has! That's right! We nearly get a new benchmark for bonkers with Planet of Fire!
-
Podcastica Episode 253: Four to Doomsday OR Do Androids Dream of Overthrowing Tyrants?
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 36 secondsFOUR TO DOOMSDAY! If the story Kinda has been our standard for bonkers episodes for years, it only stands to reason that the episode right before it is pretty bonkers, too. Right?! Well, imagine our TARDIS team encountering a race of frog-esque people who can download your whole self into some circuitry, build an android replica of yourself, and put you to work on their massive ship...because their leader effectively wants to travel faster than light, sending himself back in time to meet...maybe himself?! Oh it's a wild ride with some interesting characterizations this time with Four to Doomsday!
-
Podcastica Episode 252: Legend of the Sea Devils OR Release the Myrka!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 5 minutes and 6 secondsLegend of the Sea Devils has now come and gone like the Easter candy we probably had too much of over the weekend! But like that candy, did we get hopped up on the sugar of the Easter special or did we eventually crash afterward and wonder what the heck we were thinking? This story is a bit of a mixed bag for us. There's lots we liked, there's some we definitely didn't. So join us as we sort stuff out and also talk about that trailer for Jodie's final episode!
-
Podcastica Episode 251: The Hand of Fear OR Eldrad and The Ring Pop of Power
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 5 minutes and 39 secondsELDRAD MUST LIVE! Yes, this week we take a look at Sarah Jane's final story, The Hand of Fear. The Doctor and Sarah Jane find themselves in the middle of a quarry (not surprising) during an explosion (fairly surprising) that dislodges part of an ancient silicon-based lifeform (definitely surprising) that’s been buried in there for millions of years. Turns out this Thing impersonator from the Addams Family is called Eldrad. Eldrad likes long walks up to nuclear power stations, possessing humans to do its bidding, absorbing radiation over a nice dinner, and apparently trying to get revenge on its own people!
-
Podcastica Episode 250: The Krotons OR A Lighthearted Fogging
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 51 minutes and 1 secondEPISODE 250, PEOPLE! Who'd have ever thought we'd make it this far! This time around we watch The Krotons (which were designed to replace the Daleks as the Doctor's main enemy...you'll see why that didn't work out). The Doctor, Zoe, and Jamie land on a rather stinky planet. Mainly, that’s because of the sulfur content, but it’s also stinky because for over a thousand years the locals have been ruled over by The Krotons! See, the Krotons have a machine that, well, it needs brains! Kinda weird, we agree, but our TARDIS team shows up just in time to be part of an uprising amongst the locals that doesn’t quite go the way you’d expect. After a bit of a chemistry lesson, The Krotons are defeated and dissolved like the crystalline candy they sort of look like!
-
Podcastica Episode 249: 1963: Fanfare for The Common Men OR Heeeey! I'm Managin' Here!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 59 minutes and 39 secondsWith thanks (as always) to Mike Solko, we have our post-Gally review recommendation! 1963: Fanfare for The Common Men! An entire audio drama created from a small reference to a fictional band during the First Doctor's era! It's a solid story and one littered with Beatles references (and one glorious conspiracy theory) for those of you who love to look for those things.
-
Podcastica Episode 248: The Web of Fear OR Big Hulking Fluffy Monsters with Guns
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 8 minutes and 21 secondsYes, friends, we have been talking about reviewing The Web of Fear since before Gallifrey One this year, we were going to talk about it during our Gally coverage, but stars aligned such that we're finally now getting to it. And that's for the best because it's a story that deserves our full attention. We have the return of Professor Travers and the Yeti, we have the introduction of Col. Lethbridge-Stewart (who was almost played by someone else!), and we have our marvelous TARDIS team. What more could we ask for? Well, to have episode three returned from private hands, that's for sure!
-
PODcastica - Episode 247: Gallifrey One Day 2 Coverage!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 37 minutes and 47 secondsHello and Greetings once again from Gallifrey One! Join John and Taylor as they recap their Day 2 at the 32nd Annual event. They talk about ANIMATION DOMINATION, The Game of Rassilon, and much more!
-
PODcastica - Episode 246: Gallifrey One Day Zero & One!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 50 minutes and 0 secondsWe. Are. HERE! Join John and Taylor as they recap their Day Zero and Day Ones of Gallifrey One!
-
Podcastica Episode 245: Galaxy 4 or Doctor Who versus The Roombas
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 59 minutes and 19 secondsPodcastica's Animation Domination block continues with the First Doctor adventure Galaxy 4! While the story in and of itself doesn't exactly grip us--Taylor in fact calls this the least scary Doctor Who story ever--we are certainly entertained by the Chumblies, are impressed by a female-dominated cast (if only fewer of them were villains), and we find a sure-fire way to make this story more fun for everyone at parties!
-
Episode 244: Evil of the Daleks OR Everything Blows Up
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 5 minutes and 52 secondsPodcatica's Animation Domination is off to a very strong start with EVIL OF THE DALEKS! The Season 4 finale was originally supposed to be the end of the Daleks in Doctor Who (but we all know how that actually turned out), so it's chock full of fisticuffs, sword fighting, and (by the time we get to the last couple episodes) explosions galore! Plus, we meet the Emperor Dalek! Join us as we review this animated recreation of the lost story and find ourselves another perfect 10 on the Duggan Scale!
-
Podcastica Episode 243: Eve of the Daleks or We Are Not Nick
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 59 minutes and 58 secondsFriends! 2022 has already given us this little gem of an episode! That's right, we loved Eve of the Daleks! Though we have one minor nitpick, we were delighted by what Team TARDIS was able to do with a small cast, an enclosed set, and the old time loop trope! We got explosions, emotions, action, and the confirmation of the Thasmin Agenda! Let's grab a little bit of the leftover champers from NYE and dig into it!
-
Episode 242: The Vanquishers OR Sontaran Junk Food Junkies
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 56 secondsOur six-week long rollercoaster of a story has led us to this! The Vanquishers! Does it stick the landing? Well, we have a long discussion on expectations and how excited speculation can maybe lead to unrealistic expectations. We liked the episode, don't get us wrong, but we have to wonder if the original 8 episode season order would have served the Flux storyline better. At the end of the day, this is what we have and we always find the gems amongst the stuff we felt could have gone better! Programming Note! This is our last ep of 2021. We're going to take the rest of the month off and see you back here for Eve of the Daleks just after New Year's!
-
Podcastica Episode 241: Survivors of the Flux OR For Whom The Division Bell Tolls
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 20 secondsFolks, we are barrelling toward the finale for Doctor Who Flux! Our penultimate episode, Survivors of the Flux gives us lots to chew on. We get a deep download of Division lore, a twisted history of UNIT, and our very own Indiana Jones-like adventures (complete with an amazing hermit)! We're still loving this season, but we're also really hoping it'll stick the landing next week. How can the Doctor possibly save the universe and unpack the effects of the Flux?!
-
Podcastica Episode 240: Village of the Angels OR Everytime a Church Bell Rings
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 4 minutes and 54 secondsSometimes there's an advantage to recording a day later that we normally do, especially when that day is Doctor Who's 58th anniversary! We dive into Village of the Angels, but we also have lots of news that dropped in honor of Doctor Who Day! And this episode just blew us out of the water! Possibly the second greatest Weeping Angel story ever. There's also lots of us to speculate on as we enter the final third of the Flux storyline! Do we have any idea what's going on? Maybe! Possibly? Probably not! But we're having a ton of fun on the ride!
-
Podcastica Episode 239: Once, Upon Time OR Tempus Fugit
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 10 minutes and 49 secondsLike a solid mythology episode of The X Files, "Once, Upon Time" gives Doctor Who fans some answers, a ton of speculation, and even more questions! This season continues to fire on all cylinders and if you were confused by the disjointed time aspect of the episode and the whole "we're hiding this character from the past and just making them look like Yaz" thing, make sure to give a listen this week as we break things down, show who was who, and speculate who could have been who!
-
Podcastica Episode 238: War of the Sontarans or These Boots are Gonna Wok All Over You
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 2 minutes and 17 secondsHaving seemingly survived the Flux, The Doctor, Yaz, and Dan are dropped in the Crimean War where the British are battling the Sontarans! Yep, they're taking advantage of the Flux to conquer Earth across time. Meanwhile, on the Planet Time, not all is well. Time seems to be sentient and the mechanisms in place to make it behave are in need of repair! Can Team TARDIS make things right before the Swarm Squad sweep in to wreak havoc?! It wouldn't be the wild ride that Flux is turning out to be if there wasn't lots at stake!
-
Episode 237: The Halloween Apocalypse OR We're Going to Need a Bigger Flowchart
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 14 minutes and 12 secondsDoctor Who is back, baby! And hoo boy do they come in swinging! There is so much happening in The Halloween Apocalypse that we think we easily could have filled a couple podcast episodes about it. We are definitely going to need a bigger flowchart (or a conspiracy board for Taylor...he has some speculation about what's going on)! Either way, join us as we look at the beginnings of this six-part puzzle Doctor Who is calling Flux!
-
Episode 236: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship OR Weasley and Filch Meet Again
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 55 minutes and 10 secondsWell, we could have spent most of the episode discussing news of our impending 13th season of Doctor Who (that's only two weeks away, if you hadn't noticed), but we also have a great episode to discuss this time! We continue the dinosaur trend with DINOSAURS ON A SPACESHIP. There's no sign of Samuel L. Jackson, but we do have guest visits from Mr. Weasley and Argus Filch! We enjoyed many aspects of this episode and we also chew on the subject of this darker Doctor we get as he deals with Solomon? Did he have to die? We certainly debate it out!
-
Episode 235: Invasion of the Dinosaurs OR Curse Your Sudden but Inevitable Betrayal
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 3 secondsThe Doctor and Sarah Jane return to present day London to find it basically empty, save for looters, UNIT, and dinosaurs?!!? Trying to sort out the cause of these time eddies, The Doctor & Sarah Jane also discover deep underground (former) military bases, MK Ultra-esque mind control programs, and a secret space program psyop worthy of Alternative Three! All of this bonkers conspiracy-ness is ultimately hiding a plot to turn back time as an act of returning to a less polluted time! It’s six-parts of intrigue, mystery, and environmental commentary (that comes off better than Orphan 55 did) with Invasion of the Dinosaurs! We also spend a good few minutes talking about the news of RTD's return to Doctor Who!
-
Podcastica Episode 234: The Visitation OR Iguana Melting Man
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 6 minutes and 44 secondsThis time we discuss the 5th Doctor story The Visitation! We go deep on the interpersonal dynamics on the TARDIS right now, marvel at a sparkly droid, and behold the joy that is the character of Richard Mace! Team TARDIS are finally getting Tegan back to Heathrow, but they’re 315 years early. That’s okay, right? The air is clean, the locals are...being controlled by a fugitive Tereleptil bent on exterminating the human race and taking over the planet using a modified version of the Black Plague. Just a regular day in jolly old England, yeah? Can The Doctor save the day without his sonic? Can Nyssa turn up the bass against a sparkly android? Can Tegan manage to get through an adventure without being possessed? And could Adric possibly whine and cry in the same story? It’s all that and more during The Visitation!
-
Episode 233: Day of the Daleks OR We Concoct a Whovian Racing Game
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 10 minutes and 58 secondsJump around! Jump around! In time, that is! This week, John & Taylor review...well, two different versions of Day of the Daleks! So you get the added bonus of us comparing what you'll find on BritBox versus the original broadcast version (and there definitely are some differences!). Regardless, Day of the Daleks is a little bit of an underwhelming story, but we dig through the muck to find the gems and also come up with an idea of a Doctor Who racing video game! Who do we know out there in the games industry?
-
Podcastica Episode 232: The Girl in the Fireplace OR Horse on a Spaceship
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 2 minutes and 52 secondsJohn is back! And we're reviewing The Girl in the Fireplace! The Doctor, Rose, and (well…) that other guy, arrive on a spaceship in the 51st Century. No time agents about, but the power of the spaceship is being used to punch holes back to 18th Century France and the life of Madame de Pompadour. Rather snazzy looking clockwork droids are terrorizing Reinette until she’s "ready." Can The Doctor, Rose, and the horse figure out when Reinette will be ready and possibly stop the droids from going all “off with her head”? They’ll have to if they want to save The Girl in the Fireplace! Also, please don’t ever place actual girls in actual fireplaces. That’s not a safe place for them. This Public Service Announcement brought to you by your friends at Podcastica!
-
Podcastica Episode 231: The Aztecs OR The Doctor's Hot Cocoa Wife
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 33 minutes and 26 secondsThis time Taylor is join by friend of the show Dan van der Werf who's chosen The Aztecs for them to watch. The Aztecs is an incredible story that shows just how powerful early Classic Who can be. Frankly, they both see much of the Modern Who template in this story! Join them for a discussion about the merits of this adventure along with some heartfelt stories of just how much Doctor Who is an anchor during these troubled times!
-
Podcastica Episode 230: Time-Flight OR Let's Play Doctor Who Mad Libs!
Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 59 minutes and 35 secondsThis time Taylor is joined by friend of the show Terry Manley as they discuss the 5th Doctor story (and Season 19 finale) Time-Flight! It's a bonkers adventure with next to no budget that was all inspired by Peter Grimwade's hope that he could score a ride on the Concorde! But Time-Flight is a generally panned adventure that possibly would have worked better in the middle of the season. Regardless, Taylor and Terry find the elements that work best (Kalid's accent definitely not amongst that list) and celebrate the craziness that is Time-Flight!
-
Podcastica Episode 229: The Sun Makers OR The Yeet Heard Round the World
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 3 minutes and 23 secondsEffective immediately there is a tax of five Talmars for listening to this podcast! Just kidding, but this time we watched the 4th Doctor story The Sun Makers! This is a bonkers tale and quickly becomes one of our favorites. From set design to costume to the dialogue, it was very clear Robert Holmes was miffed with the tax board and, well, sometimes an artist's frustration produces some of their best work. So sit back, save the Talmars for a nice cold beverage, and let's talk about The Sun Makers!
-

Podcastica Episode 228: The Rescue OR 69 Hours to Dido
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 3 minutes and 21 secondsThe Doctor, Ian, and Barbara land on Dido...not the singer, don’t worry, she’s fine...only to be instantly separated after discovering a crashed rocket ship on the planet’s surface.
