Stacey chairs the discussion, talking with Nigel Auchterlounie, Al Ewing, Daniel Clifford, Nigel Dobbyn, Jack Fallows and Gordon Rennie about lessons learned the hard way. • GSN PODCAST: Battle Gods Of Pod Series 1 - Episode 2

    28 October 2013 (7:52pm GMT)
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 0 minutes and 6 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

Welcome back to Battle Gods Of Pod, the panel game show on the Geek Syndicate Network that pits a panoply of podcasters against each other in various tests of verbosity, inspiration, knowledge and wit.

We start things off with News Testaments - a variation on the Just A Minute format - before our divergent deities start Speaking In Tongues in a round table debate on the Dr Who the Anniversary We then move on to Revelations, our hidden gems round, before Gotterdammerung begins. The 'quick'-fire quiz will see all the Gods fall in Sudden Death, but who will be the last god standing?

They will join us once again in the New Year final, up against the other two winners...
If you want to track down the hidden gems, here are some good starting places: -

Battle Gods of Pod is seeking a host for Series 2. If you think you'd be up for the challenge, drop us a line at scrolls@hotmail.co.uk and we'll talk details.

Finally, we want to tip the hat to the seemingly anonymous contributors on http://www.soundboard.com/ for the sound effects used this episode.
In case you're interested, the effects were Llama Sound Clip 7, Cookie Monster Soundboard Om nom nom nom, and The Classic Wilhelm Scream 1.
We also re-used a couple of great sound effects from http://www.freesound.org/ which were Stuck By Lightning.wav by Cheeseheadburger and Remix 2 of 124721_Andy_Gardener_thunder1.flac by Timbre
The part of Castiel and his dinging halo was played by the Real Castiel and not by Dion at all. Oh no.

Hello there, thanks for joining us again on our jaunt through the joyous worlds of fantasy, science fiction and horror. Who knows what we may find? (Well I do, I suppose.) Here's a quick run down -
    News Bites:
Before any journey it's always best to fortify yourself, so we take a bit of time to chew over the latest literary events.
    Author's Delight:
We begin with a short stroll in the company of a seasoned explorer - a chance to chat with an author about one of their all-time favourite reads. On this occasion we're joined by Adam Christopher from Angry Robot, to discuss Veronica.

    The Flash Fiction Challenge:
Our listeners take a short dash up the creative slope each month in our writing challenge. In this segment we read out the top tales and talk about them.

    Night at the Round Table:
The picnic blankets out and the wine has begun to flow. Must be time to take in the view, show down and indulge in a rambling discussion.
    Author Interview:
Finally, we metaphorically hole-up in a pub, get drunk and talk to strangers until the taxi turns up. Fortunately, James Treadwell is a congenial companion, as well as a damned fine writer.
    Competition time:
On the way home we rashly offer up not one, but two great books in a dead easy competition, because you're our Best Friend and we Love you. No, no, we really Do! (Ooh. Is it me or has the world gone a bit spinny?)
Contact us via e-mail at scrolls@hotmail.co.uk / tweet @Dion_Scrolls @Phlambler or @Gouldshire or leave us your thoughts with your actual voice by Skyping me at dion.winton.polak
Scrolls is looking for a lighter and more agile format, so listen in horrified fascination as the very hungry
caterpillars continue their metamorphosis. Feedback is welcomed in the Comments section below (as are author recommendations and ways to squeeze more reading time out of a jam-packed week!)
