Episode Duration: 0 days, 0 hours, 51 minutes and 13 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

It's an audio-based Extra! this week! Join Deb, Erika, and Liz as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first televised appearance of the 8th Doctor by talking about his first audio appearance! That's right, it's Storm Warning. And because we love Big Finish so much, we digress a LOT and talk about many other Big Finish stories we love--whether they include 8 or not. When it comes to DW audios, it's near-impossible to keep us on track, and we're A-OK with that!

Have you heard Storm Warning? If so, what do you think of it? And do you think it's a good starting place for a new BF listener? Let us know in the comments!

    Direct Podcast Download

Back to new Who series 1! Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy as we talk about Rob Shearman's resurrection of the Doctor's most iconic enemy, the Daleks. It was a turning-point episode for some of us, but does it live up to the memories? Listen and see!

What do you think of "Dalek"? Is it still (or was it ever) amazing? Or does TV from 11 years ago look too different to take as seriously? Let us know in the comments!

Time for another first-based Extra! (Which is sadly sans-Deb--damn real world!) The first he wrote was the second episode of Torchwood, "Day One". It's a solid start that gets the series rolling with lots of delicious character interaction and provides much-needed visibility for bisexual people. That's our story and we're sticking to it.

  • 108 - 1 New Companion & 2 Classic Stories

    27 April 2016 (11:30am GMT)
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 41 minutes and 11 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

We are all over the map this week! Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Liz as we discuss all sorts of interesting Doctor Who goodness.

First, we dump our "happy thing" segment and break our no-news rule because the announcement of a new companion is a Big Deal! We're excited about having a new face in the TARDIS, but the level of excitement varies wildly between Verities.

Next, we continue our run through classic season 1 with "The Edge of Destruction". It's a fascinating set piece that delves into the characters of our first TARDIS team in a spooky and often disturbing way. Chillingly delightful!

Finally, we touch on our first missing story, "Marco Polo". There are oodles of ways to consume this one, and we all did it differently. We compare various methods and talk about the story itself. Opinions vary on this one even more than they do on the new companion.

Oh, and in addition to all that, we're doing another Verity! GIVEAWAY! If you need some cool fan merch, Redbubble is the place for you, and we're giving away a $25 gift certificate. To enter, just head over to the Giveaway Post and leave a comment before Friday, May 6th! (NOTE: If you're one of our amazing, intelligent, attractive Patreon supporters, you're entered automatically!)

As for the comments section here, let us know what you think of Bill, "The Edge of Destruction", "Marco Polo", your favorite Doctor Who comedy podcasts, and whatever else we touched on. We're all ears!

    13 April 2016 (11:30am GMT)
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 37 minutes and 53 seconds

The first year of new-Who continues with its first two-parter. Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we delve deep (I mean DEEP) into the relationships and characterizations and implications in "Aliens of London" and "World War Three". Yes, we touch on the farting aliens, but there's so much more in this story. It's a bit of an anchor point for the arcs of several of our characters, and we tug hard on that anchor.

In addition, we talk about the importance of libraries (Happy National Library Week!), the Doctor as a soldier, and someone utters the phrase "barfing emotions". It's quite a ride.

What do you think of this two-parter? Did the farting aliens or the domesticity turn you off? Or did you enjoy the drama? And is your reaction any different now than the first time you saw this (assuming you have seen it before)? Let us know in the comments!

      • helped her daughter through the DW rite of passage that is learning about the missing episodes.

  • 106 - Terror of the Accents

    30 March 2016 (11:30am GMT)
Episode Duration: 0 days, 1 hours, 27 minutes and 22 seconds

    Direct Podcast Download

After last week's delightful interview with Katy Manning, we thought it a perfect time to cover Jo Grant's first outing. Join Deb, Katrina, Liz, Lynne, and Tansy as they discuss"Terror of the Autons", which was not only Jo's first story, but the Master's, as well as what many call the first real "UNIT family" story. Some even argue it's the genesis of a budding romance between the Master and the Doctor...

Tansy is on Valium, Liz forgets her intro, and Kat gets to talk about punk rock. A good time is had by all! And of course, it wouldn't be a Verity! ep if the Verities didn't take a sweet tangent into social issues. This time it's an examination of accents and the class systems of various countries.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
