On this episode, Danica and Brandon tackle "The Detained" - the 6th episode of Class. It involves truth rocks that'll burn your brain and spill your teen feels all over the place. Which is bad, for a room filled with teen feels.

Outro music is "Detention" by School Gyrls.

    Because why not.

Class has premiered all around the world (well, most of it. The US won't have it until April 2017) so MarkWHO42 has seen it. We have been reviewing 2 episodes every other week in bonus episodes for the last 2 months. We took on this task in the form of, duh, a class with pop quizes on each story by headmaster Mark Baumgarten. Now it's the end game and the Final Exam! We have our two regular students: Christian Basel of MarkWHO42 & The Legend of the Traveling TARDIS and Iggy Mathews of Let's Be Reelz with the topics of episode 5: Brave-ish Heart, episode 6: Detained, episode 7: The Metaphysical Engine, Or What Quill Did, and episode 8: The Lost! This is a very funny and informative way of reviewing the last four episodes of the very adult-oriented BBC Three Doctor Who spinoff Class! And at the end, Professor Mark gives his theory of who the Governors really are... Plus Christian gives his opinion of what the show should have been... One word of warning though... Make sure you have watched the last four episodes of Class or you will be sent to detention full of Spoilers!!!!

Strange things are afoot in the TARDIS, with things popping in and out of existence, decimal points moving around, people that shouldn't be there or even exist and paintings all around. It's nothing that Lela and the Fourth Doctor can't deal with, assuming they can find out what is going on deep inside the ship.

This is not your everyday Classic Doctor Who Part 3. As Simon, Andrew and Josh embark on The Bride of Sacrifice, we all realize that the usual Part 3 run-around does not appear in The Aztecs, and we jump in with great excitement as the story does move forward significantly here.

That said, we all try out our Mexican accents Salamander style and while enjoying this episode, and do our level-best to imitate David Collings doing Vorus from Revenge of the Cybermen.

While The Doctor gets engaged to a woman 30 years his junior, we marvel at the great pensioner extras. Do join us for the banter! And is Greta Garbo dressing the actors for this??

Our year of companions kicks off in delightful style! Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Tansy as we discuss those Doctor Who characters who were almost companions--those who were slated to become TARDIS travelers but never did, as well as those who we wish had stuck around. Deb accidentally invents a new word*. Kat is thoroughly predictable. Erika unabashedly cheats. And Tansy has a list!

Which guest stars do you wish had become full-time companions? Let us know in the comments!

*comfanion, noun; a Doctor Who character not generally considered a companion of the Doctor, but whom a viewer loves so much, they think should have been. The viewer may even argue against popular opinion, claiming their favorite *is* a companion. (Examples: "Bret Vyon is my favorite companion." "He was only in one story! He's a comfanion, at best." -- "Sally Sparrow is my favorite comfanion. I wish the Doctor would've invited her onto the TARDIS.")

You know eventually they’ll make Bible of the Daleks because there’s only so many words you can use for ___ of the Daleks.

Here come the Daleks again. Is there some sort of unwritten pact that they have to appear for every doctor? Because they have so far. At least for us, I’m not counting the reboot (yet). It’s Revelation of the Daleks, written by Eric Saward and aired in March of 1985.

    Show-notes:

7:56 The Star Wars Holiday Special, largely regarded as one of the best 3-course dinners of all time, was aired only once on November 17, 1978 B.C. Written, directed, produced, and baked to a golden brown by the artists formerly known as George Lucas and Jar Jar Binks, it has been made widely available in a number of different formats, such as VHS, Blu Ray, Laserdisc, pdf, and cereal box activity. You can check out the Holiday Special in all its glory here.

20:20 According to this site, countries that list an indigenous American language as an official language are Bolivia, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela. It doesn’t list Greenland, but it’s one too, and there are probably more.
    24:27 Yeah, looks pretty cool.

Hey Who fans, we have a break in programming this week to bring you an interview with the always cheerful Mr Andrew Cartmel. Enjoy…

    The Interview

We’re big fans of Andrew and his thoughts and work on Doctor Who during such a difficult time. With BBC bosses not giving the show the love and attention it deserved and trying to take the Doctor in a new direction, Andrew had his work cut out. Listen as we dive behind the scenes and reveal some great stories from that era which ultimately led to the show’s extended hiatus.

We’d like to thank Andrew again for making time to chat with us, it really was worth it. Next week we’ll be reviewing the 5th Doctor story Four to Doomsday so look out for the post on Facebook, we look forward to your thoughts. Until then have a great week and remember – Allons-y!
