It’s impossible to understand the negative fanboy reception of this story without reading Jan Vincent-Rudski’s review of this story. There’s a video version of this review on YouTube.

You can find Jan Vincent-Rudski’s review in License Denied, edited by Paul Cornell, which is well worth a look. It includes Gareth Roberts’s defence of the Graham Williams Era, which Nathan thinks is utterly brilliant, of course.

The Manchurian Candidate (1962) tells the story of someone brainwashed into committing a terrible political assassination. Which really has nothing to do with The Deadly Assassin.

Fans of things much less relevant to this story will enjoy Geordie LaForge trying to assassinate some Romulan guy in [the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode The Mind’s Eye](http://en.memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/The_Mind’s_Eye_(episode)).

Nathan is hugely embarrassed about not recognising Runcible the fatuous as Shakespeare in The Chase.

Bondfinger

We recorded our commentary podcast episode for Goldfinger mere moments ago, so keep an eye out for its release in the next week or so on Bondfinger. We have already done two commentaries: From Russia With Love (1963), and Dr. No (1962). You can keep up with all the Bondfinger news on Twitter and Facebook.

Hey Who fans. Well that's it, Series 10 has been and gone and it's time to review the finale - The Doctor Falls but first...

The News

No big news other than ratings for World Enough and Time.

Merch Corner

A couple of new books are up for pre-order - Doctor Who: 100 Illustrated Adventures features fan and professional art and the obligatory Doctor Who Annual - 2018.

"The Doctor Falls" Review

We knew this day would come but it's here and we're not liking it. Capaldi's last full series episode ends with betrayal, courage, emotion and surprises but what do we think? A worthy ending to the series or does it fall flat on its face?

Thank you so much for listening and sending us your thoughts and reviews, we appreciate it all so much! A reminder - we're taking a couple of weeks holiday now and we'll return on Friday 28th July with a special Q&A and Top 5's show so until then... have a great couple of weeks and remember - Allons-y!

A special delivery delayed the show this week, but we’re not holding that against her.

This week we look at the final episode of Series 10, The Doctor Falls. Find out what we thought of the finale.

Also, some news, including a few Christmas special announcements.

And, of course, your feedback.

Enjoy!

Wow. You know it's a good finale when you want to say something clever like, "The Master and Missy and Nardole, oh my!" but Moffat crafts such a complex and beautiful goodbye to some of Doctor Who's best characters that "clever" feels trite.
