Radio Free Skaro #510 - The Fateful Eight
Radio Free SkaroThis week on Radio Free Skaro, the meat of the matter is an interview in two parts with the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann, the first of which was held at LI Who and the second at Chicago TARDIS! Timey-wimey, and indeed locationy...waitony. Yeah. Also, stats! Yes, the news this week consists of the last gasp of statistical data as we parse the viewing numbers for "The Husbands of River Song," along with dollops of merchandising and other dribs and drabs of newsy bits and pieces.

Episode 103: Judge Judy in Hyperspace
Trust Your DoctorJudgement in favor of the plaintiff for the sum of one piece of the Key to Time. Dismissed.
This week Kiyan and Dylan go hunting for the third piece of the Key to Time in The Stones of Blood. It was written by David Fisher and aired in October and November of 1978.
In case our context wasn’t entirely clear, we love Flight Through Entirety. Doctor Who may be tiresome, but Flight Through Entirety itself is, by no means, tiresome. So go and check them out and add another podcast to your queue.

Staggering Stories PodcastSummary:
Adam J Purcell, Andy Simpkins and Keith Dunn sit down, repeated, in front of the 2015 Doctor Who episode, Heaven Sent, and spout our usual nonsense!
The Doctor’s head is in a spin cycle, the Veil has seen too much Scooby Doo and, well, nobody else is there. But enough of their problems, please sit down with us to enjoy Heaven Sent...

Episode 61: Holden Astra
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastIt's the final story of the Key to Time season, whose story wheezes and groans to a halt in The Armageddon Factor. Meanwhile, Brendan, Nathan and Todd have a lovely time praising Mary, dissing everything else, and answering that pressing question: what did we think of Doctor Who's first ever season-long arc?
Buy the story!
And now, for the last time: In the US, you can buy The Armageddon Factor by itself (Amazon US), or as part of the Key to Time box set (Amazon US). In the UK, it's only available as part of the Key to Time box set. (Amazon UK)
Notes and links
We've referred to Cornell, Day and Topping's The Discontinuity Guide before. It's out of print, buy you can still buy for your Kindle (Amazon US) (Amazon UK) (Amazon AU). The text of the book is reproduced on the old BBC Cult Doctor Who website, which is pretty hard to get to these days, but I have at least managed to find their take on The Armageddon Factor ("the whole thing is very uninvolving").
Charmingly, Brendan thinks that K9 sounds like Lambert the Sheepish Lion (1952).
Davyd Harries, who plays posh idiot sidekick Shapp, is also fairly horrifying as Vila's hilarious bluebeard pal Doran in the horrifying Blakes 7 episode Moloch, written by Blakes 7's resident horrifying misogynist Ben Steed.
Fans of the entire contents of the Bristol Boys' kitchen drawers will enjoy Dave Martin's entry in the Make Your Own Adventure series, Search for the Doctor, which features the Sixth Doctor, K9, Drax and Omega.
Picks of the Week
Brendan
This week, Brendan has decided not to pick the Big Finish The Key 2 Time series, which consists of The Judgement of Isskar, The Destroyer of Delights and The Chaos Pool, and stars Peter Davison as the Doctor. He has also decided not to pick Graceless, an entire Big Finish series which serves as a sequel to The Key 2 Time, and which has now run for three whole series.
Instead, he's picked The Auntie Matter, a Big Finish full-cast audio drama starring Tom Baker and Mary Tamm.
Todd
Todd has picked one of the Big Finish Companion Chronicles, The Stealers from Saiph, which is read by Mary Tamm.
Nathan
Nathan has picked The AV Club, which is a sister site to satirical newspaper The Onion, and is the home of some of the best writing on pop culture on the internet. He particularly recommends the reviews of the Classic Series written by Christopher Bahn.

Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastIt’s the final story of the Key to Time season, whose story wheezes and groans to a halt in The Armageddon Factor. Meanwhile, Brendan, Nathan and Todd have a lovely time praising Mary, dissing everything else, and answering that pressing question: what did we think of Doctor Who’s first ever season-long arc?
Buy the story!
And now, for the last time: In the US, you can buy The Armageddon Factor by itself (Amazon US), or as part of the Key to Time box set (Amazon US). In the UK, it’s only available as part of the Key to Time box set. (Amazon UK)
Notes and links
We’ve referred to Cornell, Day and Topping’s The Discontinuity Guide before. It’s out of print, buy you can still buy for your Kindle (Amazon US) (Amazon UK) (Amazon AU). The text of the book is reproduced on the old BBC Cult Doctor Who website, which is pretty hard to get to these days, but I have at least managed to find their take on The Armageddon Factor (“the whole thing is very uninvolving”).
Charmingly, Brendan thinks that K9 sounds like Lambert the Sheepish Lion (1952).
Davyd Harries, who plays posh idiot sidekick Shapp, is also fairly horrifying as Vila’s hilarious bluebeard pal Doran in the horrifying Blakes 7 episode Moloch, written by Blakes 7’s resident horrifying misogynist Ben Steed.
Fans of the entire contents of the Bristol Boys’ kitchen drawers will enjoy Dave Martin’s entry in the Make Your Own Adventure series, Search for the Doctor, which features the Sixth Doctor, K9, Drax and Omega.
Instead, he’s picked The Auntie Matter, a Big Finish full-cast audio drama starring Tom Baker and Mary Tamm.
Todd
Todd has picked one of the Big Finish Companion Chronicles, The Stealers from Saiph, which is read by Mary Tamm.

Episode 127 : Terminus
The Untempered Schism PodcastThe Black Guardian still has his sights set on the Fifth Doctor, luckily he's still trying to use Turlough to do the job and he's not very good at it. Though he does get the TARDIS crew stranded on a space liner carrying a number of sick people, taking them all to Terminus, which holds a number of odd secrets about the universe.

MUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast 108 - SHERLOCK: "The Abominable Bride"
Mutter's Spiral PodcastHAPPY NEW YEAR! MUTTER'S SPIRAL Podcast is back, and since it's an even-numbered year, that means SHERLOCK is back, too! "The Abominable Bride" returns Sherlock, Watson, Mary, Molly, Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, Mycroft & Moriarty to our screens FINALLY!
It's a very fun and inception-y episode with parts both in the 1890s (Traditional Sherlock Holmes stomping grounds) and modern day, following the end of S3 while also veering off fancifully!
John & Will discuss it fully - what they really liked, what they really did not like (Will has some issues, so much so that he can't finish a sentence), but just generally exalt in the return of Holmes & Watson to our screens. Plus, there's trivia! Please have a listen!

Big Blue Box Podcast - Episode 72
The Doctor Who Big Blue Box PodcastHey Who fans! We’re back to regular scheduling this week as there’s a couple of news items and then it’s onto classic review time with Revelation of the Daleks.
The News
Doctor Who has been nominated for Best Drama in the National Television Awards. Great to see the show still mixing it up with the top shows on TV, and deservedly so. Go and cast your vote now.
Trading card company Topps have released a new set of Doctor Who cards in the US. Featuring over 200 cards including some specials and signed cards, these are sure to take off. We’ll let you know if and when they decide to release them here in the UK.
“Revelation of the Daleks” Review
We travel back to the 6th Doctor’s era this week and take a look at one of the lesser spoken about Dalek stories. Colin Baker’s usual brash-self is always under scrutiny but how does the story stack up for us? Do we drown in the monster-infested pools on Necros or do we strut proudly in our fancy blue cloak?
Week 1 of 2016 is now done! Our review story next week is [] so remember to give us your thoughts on that. Until then, remember – Allons-y!

25: Planet of Giants 1-3
Lazy Doctor WhoJ (1-3)
Steven and Erika start season two of classic Doctor Who by watching an entire 3-episode story, “Planet of Giants” from 1964. And yes, Erika is a bit sleepy again.
If you’ve been following along with the serial codes as we’ve listed them on the website, you’ll note the letter I was skipped. That’s because “I” looks too much like the number 1 and could have been confusing. Production code neepery FTW!
