Classic Rewatch: The Web of Fear
Gallifrey Public Radio - A Doctor Who PodcastThere's so much to love about the Troughton era in total, but as a result of the travesty that is the bemoaned "lost episodes", we have limits to the amount of televised footage that we can truly enjoy in its full form, as it aired. At this point in our trip through the (nearly) complete classic Doctor Who stories, the episodes we spin up are like little 22-minute gifts. And I (Keir, hullo!) may be speaking for myself here, but this is one of the greatest gifts we can unwrap. The TARDIS Team is in great form, the supporting characters are diverse and wonderful, the challenge of getting to and confronting the "big bad" is circuitous and complicated because of a genuinely challenging game of finding the traitor amongst the troop, and the Yeti are...well, let's face it. They're adorable killing machines, aren't they? Almost like Sweetums, from the Muppets... This week, we square off once again with the Great Intelligence, but with the newly arrived Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart, as we face "The Web of Fear". With twists and turns (both figuratively and literally), deaths and danger, scientific development under pressure, and a Welsh comic relief that deserves Shakespearean praise, this is one you can enjoy time and again. And we do. Often. News Links: Could We See a "Power of the Daleks" Animation in the Near Future? The Oncoming Storm Ep 181: No Man's Land. Fall to Earth, Requiem for the Rocket Men
The Oncoming StormEpisode 181 of The Oncoming Storm marks a milestone of sorts. For months Josh has dodged the new Torchwood audios from Big Finish. After the last straw experience of Miracle Day, he was ready to never return to the world of Captain Jack and his crew. But Jeff wouldn't let that stand, and this month forces Josh and Ashley to listen to Fall to Earth by James Goss. There's gonna be fireworks folks! Meanwhile, Josh gets back to the most important Big Finish storyline, that of the 7th Doctor, Ace, and Hex as we go back to World War 1 in No Man's Land by Martin Day. Finally, Ashley brings the last Rocket Men story, Requiem for the Rocket Men by John Dorney, to the table. I wonder if they'll like that one? The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got the best damn insurance salesperson known to humankind. If my insurance person was as good as her, I'd own every possible insurance too!

Doctor Whooch // Episode 097 // Tennant In A Tight Space
Doctor WhoochIn which we are too busy staring at a man in a blue suit to follow the plot.
On this week's show, Mr. Butts and Mr. Peanutbutter take on another series 3 episode with "The Lazarus Experiment". It's a whole thing with Mark Gatiss being an old man who suddenly isn't so old and is both a figurative and literal monster. Also, there's a church, and like family stuff? Basically, there's a lot to try and pay attention to while Tennant is swanning around making faces and ruffling his hair and stuff. Yeah girl, go get itttt.
Outro music is "Kokomo (Beach Boys Cover)" by The Vandals.

TDP 605: Summer of Blake's 7 2.06 - Trial
Tin Dog PodcastServalan must answer to the mishandling of the Blake affair and she tries to have Travis eliminated by setting him up on charges of mass murder before he can testify against her. Elsewhere, distraught over losing his friend Gan, Blake goes to an uninhabited planet to "think". Believing Blake has run out on them, Avon tries to persuade the others to abandon him once and for all. Down on the planet, Blake encounters a creature called Zil who warns that he will be "absorbed" by "the Host". In space, Zen detects unusual tectonic movement on the planet and Orac determines the entire planet is a living entity, which feeds on its surface lifeforms. After being rescued, Blake decides to send a clear message to the Federation that he has not given up by launching a bold assault against Servalan's headquarters. The attack ironically allows Travis - who has been found guilty of the charges and sentenced to death - a means of escape, and he forces Servalan to help him get away.

Extra! - Quel Dommaged Goods
Doctor Who: Verity! It's another bookish Extra! Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we look at another first. This time it's Russell T Davies' first published Doctor Who work, his New Adventures novel Damaged Goods. This is another very grown-up-themed tome, and the Verities react as such. Some really enjoy it, others not as much. But as always, it's a great discussion! (Though we do, necessarily, venture into some rather adult territory in the course of the discussion, so sensitive/young listeners may want to beware.)
Have you read this one? If so, what do you think of it? And can you see any RTD-isms poking up in this early work? Let us know in the comments!

Episode 295 - Hey Macra-ana!
Traveling the VortexRah, rah, rah! We check in this week with a long one, but a good one. This time we look at another Doctor Who story that has been lost in time, with our attention on The Macra Terror. We examine both the Loose Canon reconstruction of the Patrick Troughton, Second Doctor Story and the novelization written by screenwriter, Ian Stuart Black.
Also, rumor news involving a leaked animation clip that appeared online and then disappeared shortly after, some convention announcements, and a new limited edition book from our friends over at Candy Jar Books.
And, of course your feedback.
Enjoy!

UPDATE: We misspoke on this week’s show. The Havoc Files 2 is not included in the 30% discount with the special EPICLS30 code. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This from Candy Jar:
To clear up a bit of confusion: The HAVOC Files 2 is *not* included in the 30% offer. All other LS titles are, tho. https://t.co/Gu5bVOtMOj
