DIDDLY DUM PODCAST 067 - Schmooze, Blues and Doctor Twos
Diddly Dum PodcastThis week, the opening “what have we been doing since last time” section takes longer than the main theme section. That’s what happens when all four members of The Six Faces of Delusion discover a social life.
Before we tackle the first four episodes of “Class”, Allan attends the unveiling of Jon Pertwee’s blue plaque and meets a shedload of celebrities. Mark visits Dungeness Power Station (a.k.a. The Nuton Power Complex from “Claws of Axos”) before coming face to face with dinosaurs which never existed. Doc and Hayden attend the premier of the animated “Power of the Daleks” at the British Film Institute and hide from a roomful of uber-fans while the celebrities hide in the green room.

Episode 92: Is Icthar Okdel?
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, Brendan, Nathan and Richard build a giant Seabase underwater. It's going to be the best, most beautiful Seabase ever. And we'll get the Silurians to pay for it!
Buy the story!
Warriors of the Deep was released on DVD in 2008. In the US, it was released on its own (Amazon US), but in the UK, it was released along with Doctor Who and the Silurians and The Sea-Devils in the surprisingly good Beneath the Surface box set. (Amazon UK).
Notes and links
This story's writer, Johnny Byrne, wrote more episodes of the first season of Space: 1999 than anyone else ever. And, my God, can't you tell from this story?
Fans of all these corridors looking the same to me will enjoy Lenny Henry's famous Doctor Who sketch from 1985.
Philip Sandifer discusses the problem of bases under siege in his TARDIS Eruditorum entry on The Ice Warriors.
Tom Adams, Vorshak in this story, stars in the Terry Nation-penned episode of The Avengers called Takeover. And he's also in The Far-Distant Dead and Death on the Slipway.
The real world counterpart to hexachromite gas is called Hexavalent Chromium. It's brutally poisonous. In Australia, we've been using it to carelessly poison some of our remote communities.
Cornell, Day and Topping theorise that this story's continuity problems could be solved by positing a third encounter between Pertwee and the Silurians in this entry in their The Discontinuity Guide.
Gary Russell desperately attempts to wallpaper over these horrific continuity problems, with some success, in his Virgin Missing Adventure, The Scales of Injustice. It was republished as part of The Monster Collection in 2014. (Amazon US) (Amazon UK) (Amazon AU)
Fans of Gary Gillatt's reviews of Doctor Who DVD releases in Doctor Who Magazine will enjoy his blog Squabbling Rubber.

Metebelis 2 #17 - Teatime Terror
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2Ben and David do an overview of the Hinchcliffe/Holmes era as they continue their look at horror in Who by looking at this era's influences and impact on the show. Do these stories hold up for today's fandom? How 'horrible' are they? Are they mostly Hammer and other horror movie pastiches? What were the influences of Mary Whitehouse and her British conservatism in the 1970s, and why did David Sullivan name a magazine after her? From "teatime terror for tots" to Bristol Boy catchphrases, join the Metebelis 2 as they geek out about Season 12 and chat about horror, sadism, and cliffhangers. Intro music by Dudley Simpson's incidental music score from the opening of "The Ark in Space" Part One. Outro music "Sarah Pursued/The Prototype" from music composed by Dudley Simpson for "Genesis of the Daleks" and arranged and performed by Heathcliff Blair.

Doctor Whooch // Episode 104 // Crazy Shadow Sex Knives
Doctor WhoochIn which we try to make sense of Class and might fail in the process.
On this week's show, Brandon and Danica take another spin at trying to explain what's been happening on Class as they recap "Brave-Ish Heart" - the fifth episode in the first series. The results of which are very mixed, but hey, at least you get another one of Brandon's surreal episode descriptions of bonkers plot points! Also on this episode: we still love Brooklyn 99, y'all! It's amazing.
Outro music is "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten.

The Doctor Who Hour'The Dalek Invasion of Earth' continues unabated with two episodes that feature a lot of characters scrambling around but are suprisingly light on actual Daleks, save of course for the much anticipated sequel to last episode's beloved art film, Woman Run Fast. Big Blue Box Podcast - Episode 117
The Doctor Who Big Blue Box PodcastWelcome new and old listeners alike! This week’s show has the usual waffle, latest news, some merch then our reviews of both Class Episode 5 – Brave-ish Heart and our 11th Doctor story – Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. Geronimo!

Merch
The Douglas Adams story The Pirate Planet is getting released in January and is based on the original notes Adams put down over 40 years ago. Will be a good pick up this one.
Warlord Games are releasing two additional miniature sets for the upcoming adventure table top game Into the Time Vortex. These new sets are the Cybermen and Dalek versions which can be custom painted.
“Class: Episode 5 – Brave-ish Heart” Review
The concluding episode to last week but has it ramped up the essentials to provide a fitting close or are we left a little disappointed?
“Dinosaurs on a Spaceship” Review
“I have a gang!” It’s always great to spend time with the 11th Doctor and this one has it’s fans and dislikers. What do we think though? A classic Doctor Who adventure or should it remain on the shelf, ready for extinction?
A huge thank you as always for you continued support and those that sent in reviews. Next week it classic week and it’s the turn of the 4th Doctor and The Sontaran Experiment. Have a super week and remember – Allons-y!!

The Oncoming Storm Ep 187: For Sacha - Enemy of the Daleks, Psychodrome, Fallen Angels, Absent Friends
The Oncoming StormHonestly, there's not much to say this week. The Oncoming Storm has lost one of it's own this week, and we're devastated. Sacha hasn't been on the show for well over a year due to his schedule and health issues, but he has remained a member of our dysfunctional family and we were expecting his return sooner rather than later. Sadly, Sacha passed away on 11/14/2016, due to complications during surgery. Episode 187 then, is dedicated entirely to the memory of Sacha Dzuba. Josh, Ashley, Rachel, and Jeff first come together to say a few things about their friend, and then because it's what he would have wanted, they spend two hours deep in geeky Doctor Who conversation.
They cover Enemy of the Daleks by David Bishop, Psychodrome by Jonathan Morris, Fallen Angels by Phil Mulryne, and in an unfair twist of fate, Absent Friends by John Dorney. The Oncoming Storm... This time, we've got a lot of tears. We miss you already Sacha.

Join us next week for our review of Doctor Who story #117, Four to Doomsday! You can rent the DVD from Netflix, or buy the DVD from BarnesAndNoble.com, Amazon.com, the BBC Doctor Who Shop, or many other fine retailers. As of recording, WB Shop appears to have dropped almost all of their Doctor Who DVDs, however, so we can no longer recommend them as a source.

Live from L.I. Who 4
Gallifrey Public Radio - A Doctor Who PodcastWe’ve had returns to alien worlds last seen when humans only perceived the world in black and white, scaly monsters thawed from the icy depths, and accoutrements on the TARDIS console that haven’t had hands jammed into them in over a generation. Whotiques Roadshow – Complete set of HARDBACK Target novels
The Doctor Who ShowFor those of you who are unaware, Paul Scoones is the man behind the legendary New Zealand Doctor Who fanzine, Time Space Visualiser. He's also one half of the team who tracked down a missing episode of Doctor Who - specifically 'The Lion', a missing episode of the William Hartnell story 'The Crusade', back in 1999. He's the author of the excellent 'The Comic Strip Companion', dealing with Doctor Who comics, and he's also written the infotext subtitles on many of the classic era Doctor Who DVDs you've watched.
Rob sits down with Paul and asks him to choose an item from his extensive collection for the Whotiques Roadshow. Paul selects a complete set of Doctor Who Target novels with a delightful twist... they're all in hardback. This leads the two on a discussion of the Target novels in general, what attracted Paul to the hardbacks, their value, plus what came later in the form of the Virgin New Adventures and Missing Adventures, BBC 8th Doctor and Past Doctor ranges, right up to the current BBC New Series Adventures.

42 to Doomsday - Typical..Absolutely Typical?
42 To DoomsdayEpisode 60 - Interstate rivalries are (briefly) put on ‘hiatus’ when the curator of the Doctor Who Show Rob Irwin appears on this episode where we discuss the stories we would classify as ‘typical’ examples of particular eras of Doctor Who. Mark is also taken to task about his ‘non-canon’ position on the new incarnation of Peter Cushing’s Doctor Who; we subject Rob to Who Knows where he has to guess the Doctor Who story based on comments left on You Tube and ask the perennial question: which state makes the better coffee - Victoria or New South Wales ?
