Audio Ep. 5: Wolf Catapult ft. Flight Through Entirety
Trust Your DoctorMy cunning plan to win Eurovision is to bring a Wolf Catapult to my performance.
This week we’re joined by Brendan and Nathan for what is quite possibly the most inefficient (but surely the most interesting) summary of a Doctor Who story in existence. The four hosts proceed to spend about 2 hours explaining the 2 hour long story. It might just be quicker to read the wikipedia page for the story while listening to it. But that wouldn’t be as fun, now would it? We also spend upwards of 10 minutes just trying to end the episode. It’s Bang -Bang-a-Boom! written by Gareth Edwards and Clayton Hickman and released in December of 2002. Bang-Bang-a-Boom! can be purchased for $3 (or your local equivalent) on Big Finish's website.
Show-notes:
10:56 The Mostly Made-up Doctor Who Episode Guide is still one of the best Doctor Who podcasts out there. Why don’t you, uh, go and, uh, take a listen to them? Uh? Right there. Go on. Do it.
7:56 And now with the magic of the internet you can listen to Lulu’s Boom Bang a Bang from Eurovision 1969 whenever you want. Relive the glory days with the power of modern technology. And get off my lawn. There’s not wifi on my lawn.
9:24 Something something something about rights, bla bla, where’s all the cool stuff like those holographic wolves?
13:33 Space:1999: for dummies: like us: cause we knew nothing about it: the wiki article: the animated series: the movie.
35:52 Here’s drwhoguide. Last updates 22-DEC-2013.
1:00:10 Don’t let your dreams be dreams. Follow them. Just like Shia did.
1:47:12 Flight Through Entirety. Also find them at all the other usual places like Facer, Twitbook, etc.To make your job a bit easier, here’s some links to audios Brendan mentioned: The One Doctor, Luna Romana, And the Pirates, The High Price of Parking (the first Mel&Ace one), The Dark Husband, The Wrong Doctors, The Kingmaker, Red

Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, Brendan, Nathan and Todd go for a lovely walk in a rain-drenched forest, only to find themselves dragged halfway across the galaxy by the Time Lords and placed on trial to answer for their crimes. It’s Parts 1 to 4 of the longest Doctor Who story ever — The Trial of a Time Lord: The Mysterious Planet.

Trials and Tribulations is a 55-minute documentary covering the production problems that plagued the Colin Baker era, and the 1985 cancellation in particular. Do not miss this.
After leaving the show in 1986, Eric Saward gave an interview to Starburst magazine, in which he mounted an attack on John Nathan-Turner. It’s an eyewatering read.
In 1989, Jon Pertwee starred in a Doctor Who stage play called The Ultimate Adventure. During the run, Colin Baker took over in a somewhat less horrific version of his TV costume.
Fans of Mollie Sugden as Mrs Slocombe will undoubtedly enjoy watching her trapped on a spaceship in the year 2050 in BBC sitcom Come Back Mrs Noah (1977).
In this story, whiskerless youth Balazar is played by Adam Blackwood. Blackwood can also be seen playing Tok in Season 4 Blakes 7 episode Assassin, in which he is bidding on slaves at the behest of Natratof of Gourimpest. He also plays Barmy Fotheringay Phipps in various episodes of Jeeves and Wooster. Most surprisingly, he is the voice of James Bond himself in the 2001 videogame 007: Agent Under Fire. Terminus Podcast -- Episode 25 - Starchild!: The Pilot
Terminus: A Doctor Who PodcastSo, my episode reviewing 'The Pilot' is finally here! Yes, there were some technical errors and issues (quite a few), as well as Life Stuff that got in the way, but I bested them and finally was able to pull it all together for you here today (albeit with a bit of a sore throat that makes my voice crack much like male puberty at times, but oh well, these things happen).
Anyway, so join me as I excitedly talk about our first proper introduction to Bill Potts, discuss shades of 'Shada', play around with some Jungian interpretations and other related chat about water and reflection imagery, empathize with young awkward queers, dance for disco androids, and try to contain my burning Professor fetish.
As always, glad to have you all aboard. Do enjoy the ride!

I'm Supposed to Be Cross
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, Brendan, Nathan and Todd go for a lovely walk in a rain-drenched forest, only to find themselves dragged halfway across the galaxy by the Time Lords and placed on trial to answer for their crimes. It's Parts 1 to 4 of the longest Doctor Who story ever -- The Trial of a Time Lord: The Mysterious Planet.
Buy the story!
The Mysterious Planet was released as part of the Trial of a Time Lord box set in 2008/2009. (Amazon US) (Amazon UK)
Notes and links
Trials and Tribulations is a 55-minute documentary covering the production problems that plagued the Colin Baker era, and the 1985 cancellation in particular. Do not miss this.
After leaving the show in 1986, Eric Saward gave an interview to Starburst magazine, in which he mounted an attack on John Nathan-Turner. It's an eyewatering read.
You can get an idea of what he's like in [this video on YouTube].

In a nearby parallel universe, Glitz and Dibber were played by French and Saunders. Which is as good an excuse as any to link to this video of the two of them playing extras on the set of Trial of a Time Lord. You can also see them in the BBC sitcom Girls on Top (1985).

You and Who Talking 005
The Doctor Who ShowWhat you are about to hear is the story of a connection, a connection that was made between a television series and a viewer's life.
The You and Who books are the story of that connection, as told by the people who watch the programmes that make us come alive. Chiefly, of course, Doctor Who.
This podcast will relate some of the stories from those books... and beyond.
In this episode:
'My Life as a Whoover' by Stephen Hatcher
With an introduction featuring Rob Irwin talking to JR Southall.
The You and Who books, from which all royalties are paid to charity, are available in print and for Kindle, from watchingbooks.weebly.com

Episode 161: This Be Scringestone
The TARDIS TavernDo you ever get that feeling, as you're leaving the house to go to work, that you forgot something? Maybe it's your car keys, or maybe it's your briefcase, or maybe it's the very thing that holds all of time and space together and is the key to all that is good and evil? That's what the White Guardian must have felt just minutes before "The Ribos Operation" took place.
Is "The Ribos Operation" another brilliant Robert Holmes triple act? Or is it not even worth its weight in jethrik? Listen in as we discuss!

42 to Doomsday - Top 5 Underrated Monsters
42 To DoomsdayEpisode 66 - It's another Top 5 from the Doctor Who podcast that always brings you the best and biggest Top 5's! To help us navigate through this minefield we are delighted to welcome back friend of the podcast, Rob Lloyd! To top off the discussion, we talk about the one's we would love to see resurrected in the new series. All this plus more Ultimate Adventure insights from people who actually saw it and pressed the flesh of the great man (men!) who trod the boards. And what does our self enforced 'embargo' on Series 10 have in common with one of the best Seinfeld episodes of all time? Full details of Rob Lloyd's upcoming tour of Who Me in Canada, USA and Edinburgh can be found at http://www.roblloyd.com.au What in Nimon's name are you waiting for book your tickets now!!!
