Episode 194: Some Semblance of a Budget
Trust Your DoctorWe’ve come far since the days of styrofoam avalanches … but not that far.
This is the longest episode we’ve put out in a long time. It’s over an hour and a half long, and somehow it’s actually sort of interesting for the entire episode, which is really saying something. Remember our War Games episode? Good times. It’s Utopia, The Sound of Drums, and Last of the Time Lords, written by Russell T. Davies and aired on June 16, 23 and 30th, 2007.
Show-notes:
11:58 Stop Crying Your Heart Out is really one of Oasis’ worst songs.
27:26 Yeah, Derek Jacobi has a pretty extensive career.
29:03 As does John Simm.
50:35 Rose gets a TARDIS key in Aliens of London.
1:03:13 Here’s the scene from Watchmen. And here’s the equally-bad one from Ironman.
1:06:01 Tom Ellis is Lucifer. Lucifer is Tom Ellis.
1:09:48 Rolanda Hooch is played by Zoe Wanamaker, who plays Cassandra in series 1 and 2.
1:13:26 Plo Koon. He’s Plo Koon.
1:18:26 The mirror universe from Star Trek sounds pretty “cool” I guess.

ReGeneration Who 4 with Simon Fraser & William Russell
Who and CompanyThis month, we look back at our time at this year's (Re)Generation Who 4 convention in Baltimore, Maryland featuring many guests including Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and the first public appearance of Peter Capaldi since leaving the role of the Doctor! And if that's not exciting enough, we were very fortunate to grab a 10 minute interview with none other than Ian Chesterton himself, William Russell, discussing his time on The Adventures of Sir Lancelot!
After that, you can hear our live panel with comic artist Simon Fraser discussing what it's like to draw the Eleventh Doctor and why he chose Star Trek: Enterprise as his classic TV show.
All that and a recap from us of this year's fantastic convention.

(One and Done) Episode 1: Don't Listen to This
Trust Your DoctorThis is not a joke, we’re done with Doctor Who.
Let the past die, kill it if you have to. And we did. Trust Your Doctor is dead. I’m sorry if you liked the show, but it’s done now. We’re going to replace it with a podcast that has much less overhead, it takes less time to make, and edit, and is just generally easier. Sorry. This week we review Trust Your Doctor Episode 1, which released on January 24, 2014.
Show-notes:
0:20 Trust Your Doctor is dead. Long live One and Done.
1:01 Zenith is still going though.
1:32 RIP in pieces 42 to Doomsday.
1:36 Never heard of Complete Menagerie.
6:50 Here’s The Great Titanic Conspiracy on Amazon if you want to get it for some reason.

DIDDLY DUM PODCAST 093 - Peter Patter
Diddly Dum PodcastBut eventually we get down to our tribute to the late Peter Miles by taking a look at the Season 7 (1970) story – The Silurians. Along the way, we look at Peter’s work with Dusty Springfield, Jim Davidson latter career as a Liberace impersonator and the most bad-ass recurring villain of the Pertwee era (it’s not what you may think).
Plus we make a singular phone call to Hayden.

(00:00:00) One of Peter Miles’s lesser-known activities was as a jazz singer and, 50+ years ago, he duetted with his friend Dusty Springfield on “Can’t We Be Friends”. This track has recently been released by a major record company. Peter can be seen at 10 mins into this video clip contributing to a South Bank Show looking at Dusty Springfield.

(00:21:50) The Who at the Hoylake convention.
(00:54:56) “Colour Me Kubrick: A True…ish Story” (released in the US as Color Me Kubrick) is a Franco-British comedy-drama film directed by Brian W. Cook, released in 2005. The film stars John Malkovich as Alan Conway, a man who had been impersonating director Stanley Kubrick since the early 1990s. One of the biggest scams is when Conway promises to help establish Lee Pratt (Jim Davidson) as a headliner act in Las Vegas. Pratt is a British entertainer who’s had limited success as a flamboyant dancer and stage singer. Pratt is described as a “low-rent Liberace with an Elvis gleam in his eye.” The singing clip can be found here.
