208 - 7 Nation Army of Ghosts/Doomsday Tripper
Doctor Who: Verity!Okay, this "7" is a stretch but we made it work. Join Deb, Lynne, and Tansy as we dissect the rollicking, emotional, and devastating story duo of "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday".
We give credit to 8 y.o. RTD (the obvious creator of the Dalek v. Cyberman smackdown) while calling out the emotional manipulation he inflicted upon both Jackie and Rose. But we all come together in our adoration Yvonne Hartman's confidence (and tailoring) and Mickey Smith's swagger.
What are your favorite bits of this, literally, epic two-parter? Or was the emotional manipulation just a bit too much? Let us know what you think in the comments!
^D
Happy things:
- Lynne is beyond thrilled that Arthur Darvill has been announced as a guest at next months' Chicago TARDIS!
- Tansy is filled with maternal pride that her youngest bought their first sonic screwdriver – and it's the 13th Doctor's!
- Deb is still recovering from seeing Christopher Eccleston at NYCC. She live-tweeted the experience in case you missed it!
Extra-special thanks to this week's guest editor, Steven Schapansky of Castria! Support Verity! on Patreon

Episode 5.5/A: Andrew Ireland
Something WhoIt's the second special episode in a week celebrating the release of the University of Central Lancashire's recreation of Mission to the Unknown. After last week's episode https://somethingwho.podbean.com/e/episode-55-transmission-of-the-unknown/, in which Paul, Tim, Richard and Jac Rayner gushed over the YouTube release of the reborn Mission to the Unknown, we were contacted by the creative force behind the project - Andrew Ireland. Andrew joins Richard this week to discuss the project from its origins, through its realisation and release to possible future plans. It's a fascinating listen, if not quite 17 times as long as the YouTube "Making Of" as Jac requested. If you haven't yet caught up with the Mission to the Unknown remake, it can be found here: https://youtu.be/NW8yk-m5Ig8
(Please) contact us on Twitter on @something_who. The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and the closing music is the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme from Richard on ukulele and kazoo.

Episode 163: Black Orchid OR A Bit of a Sticky Wicket
PodcasticaEvery now and then Doctor Who tries something new, something a little different. At times it works and at times it doesn't. Black Orchid was Doctor Who's attempt at a classic British murder mystery. It was a notable effort, but the execute may have left a little to be desired. John & Taylor come at the story from different points of view and ultimately make as much sense as they can of it. Grab your potting soil, your old timey drinks, and settle in for our review of Black Orchid!

#128 - Remission
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2The Metebelis Two remember Stephen Moore and his role of Marvin the Paranoid Android from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Followed by speculation on what the next 1960s Who animation will be, which then leads to a conversation of the University of Lancaster's recent restaging of Mission to the Unknown. Should more missing Who be restaged? Who would the two cast as the Doctor? Opening music is "Marvin" sung by Stephen Moore and interstitial stings and closing music is by Trevor Duncan and was from the soundtrack of Mission to the Unknown.

Radio Free Skaro #711 – The Sorting Hat’s Grandpa
Radio Free SkaroIt’s a celebration of anniversaries this week as Doctor Who Magazine, the esteemed publication that has been by the Three Who Rule and many, many others for decades, celebrated its 40th anniversary this past week. And the tenth anniversary season of Classic Doctor Who finally saw its Blu-ray release here in North America, in a slimmer case than in the UK. Oh, the controversy! 273: Only Kids Love Bugs (Knock Knock)
Trust Your DoctorSorry entomologists, I really hate to break this to you.
I always thought it was going to be four knocks, you know? Like, knock knock knock knock. At least that’s what that weird fortune teller told us it was going to be. But I guess the Twelfth Doctor only requires half as many knocks. I wonder what that says about him. It’s Knock Knock, written by Mike Bartlett and aired on May 6, 2017.
Show-notes:

Some Custard Pies and a Few Harsh Words
Flight Through Entirety: A Doctor Who PodcastThis week, we’re hosting our first ever black-tie function, and you’re all invited! Nathan’s scoffing all the canapés, Brendan keeps being mistaken for the waiter, and somewhere upstairs is a roaring and slavering Colin Neal, who will join us later — we hope — to discuss The Lazarus Experiment.
Notes and links
Brendan compares the Lazarus monster (favourably) to the deplorably bad CGI Scorpion King played by Rock “the Dwayne” Johnson in The Mummy Returns. (Some dedicated VFX nerds on YouTube have been kind enough to fix this.)
Fans of Adjoa Andoh will also enjoy her turns in RTD’s Wizards vs. Aliens and Cucumber.
Guga Mbatha-Raw appeared in the Series 3 Black Mirror episode San Junipero. She also played Ophelia to Jude Law’s Hamlet in a production in the West End and on Broadway in 2009 — she is interviewed about it here.

Nathan is on Twitter as @nathanbottomley, Brendan is @brandybongos, and Colin is @colin_neal. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the strings performance was by Jane Aubourg. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast.

Was daraus wurde? Das hört ihr hier. Warum erst heute?

Was daraus wurde? Das hört ihr hier. Warum erst heute?
Follow us
Nathan is on Twitter as @nathanbottomley, Brendan is @brandybongos, and Colin is @colin_neal. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam, and the strings performance was by Jane Aubourg. You can follow the podcast on Twitter at @FTEpodcast.
We’re also on Facebook, and you can check out our website at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on iTunes, or we’ll keep making inappropriate and suggestive remarks about how lovely you smell.
And more
You can find Jodie into Terror, our flashcast on Doctor Who’s most recent season, at jodieintoterror.com, at @JodieIntoTerror on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and wherever podcasts can be found.
Our James Bond commentary podcast is called Bondfinger, and you can find that at bondfinger.com, at @bondfingercast on Twitter, on Apple Podcasts, and everywhere else as well. We’ve run out of Bond films, but somehow that hasn’t stopped us.

055: Tennants & Tattoos
Neither The Time Nor The SpaceIt's the end of an era! This week Matt and David bid a (partially) fond farewell to RTD and the Tenth Doctor as they run through the highs and lows of series 4, the 2009 specials and the RTD era as a whole. They also get rather sidetracked at one point, when Matt reveals which comic book character he has tattooed on his arm.
David also teases Matt with the series 5 trailer (watch it here: https://youtu.be/UnPUF8an-XE) and reveals which classic Fourth Doctor adventure they'll be watching next week.
Doctor Who theme by Ron Grainer, arranged by Alexander Erben.
