Whocast #405 – Jippie, jippie, Gerontophilie

#141 - Nik at Night
Doctor Who: The Metebelis 2In this episode, Messrs Tesla and Edison, a.k.a AC/DC, snipe at each other and help the Doctor outwit some rather nasty space scavenger scorpions. The two agree that it was great seeing the fam in period costume and David was excited about seeing a steam train finally in Doctor Who. Ben wonders why a new monster of the week when there is such a rich back catalog to use. Overall good writing, directing, and performances combine for an enjoyable mid-series romp in 1903 New York despite some sloppy CGI work. Opening music is from this week's soundtrack and closing music is "You Really Need to Get Out of Those Clothes" from series 11, both composed by Segun Akinola.

285: Yes, But Actually No (Demons of the Punjab)
Trust Your DoctorI feel really bad about not knowing anything about partition, but watching this episode for the second time has actually prompted me to look into it more. It seems to have served the Doctor Who purpose of introducing an audience to an entirely new topic that they had no idea about. Does that make it the most successful Doctor Who episode of all time? Stay tuned to find out. It’s Demons of the Punjab, written by Vinay Patel and aired on November 11, 2018.
Show-notes:

Review of Orphan 55, Doctor Who Series 12 Episode 3
Discussing WhoThe Doctor and the Tardis Fam find themselves on a two-week fake-cation. What dangers lie beyond the dome? Why did we find it so very difficult to say something nice about this episode?
