With the new season ending, we’ll be returning to monthly episodes, typically airing on the first Thursday of the month, or the first Thursday after a new special airs! It’s the conclusion of Doctor Who: Flux and the Three Who Rule stayed up late (but not as late as the brave and valiant livestream viewers!) to hash out what they liked, what they didn’t, and what baffled and confused them as Series 13 reached the end of its six-part saga with “The Vanquishers”. But there’s more to come as “Eve of the Daleks” is headed our way on New Year’s Day and..well, that’s it until Easter! Between the very new Flux discussion and the near endless pondering during the Timelash about 625-line video and the animated fate of “The Feast of Steven”, we managed to eke out almost two hours of quality banter, so we hope you like it!

We’re rapidly closing in on the end of possibly the whirl windiest season of Doctor Who ever written. It’s bizarre, it’s amazing, it’s huge. It’s everything you ever wanted from a Doctor Who story. Richard identifies some possible inspirations for this episode, including Cloud Atlas (2004) by David Mitchell and The Master and Margarita (1967) by Russian author Mikhail Bulgakov.

Nathan mentions Steven Moffatt’s adaptation of Dracula (2020), in which two of the three episodes use the same narrative framing technique he uses in this episode, where the events of the episode start to impinge on the story being told in flashback at the start of the episode.

Steven B calls The Doctor’s Wife a “nerd-baiting title in our episode on that story, called, appropriately Nerd-Baiting Title. Nathan levels the same accusation against the title of this story.
