2MTL 319: Why Who Beats Trek
Two-minute Time LordOnce upon a time, I had a TON of Star Trek reference books. Today, I have a teetering stack of Doctor Who Magazines. I've been dipping back into Star Trek recently, wondering why it no longer scratches the itch Doctor Who does.

Episode 94: What's Behind Your Door?
The TARDIS TavernThis time we're happy and honored to have Deb Stanish from the Parsec-nominated Doctor Who podcast, Verity! (That exclamation point is part of the title, not that we're super excited and all that she can join us, because we are.) Deb is also known as the editor of such books as Whedonistas: A Celebration of the Worlds of Joss Whedon by the Women Who Love Them and Chicks Unravel Time: Women Journey Through Every Season of Doctor Who. Ooooh, we have an academic at the bar! Let's pump her full of whiskey and see what she has to say!
This time we turn our sights to a more recent time: "The God Complex" which aired as recent as September of 2011. And I hope you can taste the irony of that word "recent", because if you do your math you would realize that's about two years ago, yet it was just last season. Ah, Doctor Who, you are a slow, sometimes tortuous machine. But we love you.
"Like" us on Facebook, email us stuff at tardistavern@gmail.com, and follow Sean on Twitter via @tardistavern. If you're on Twitter and aren't following Deb, you can do so via @DebStanish and also follow her podcast via @VerityPodcast.

Verity! Episode 22 - Companion Confab: Once, Future, & Out of This World
Doctor Who: Verity! It's time to talk about companions again! Join Deb, Erika, Katrina (as opposed to Katarina--yes, we have some confusion there), and Lynne as we discuss companions who joined the Doctor from the past, the future, and other worlds. How do past companions stack up to those from the future? Does one type work better than the other? What about "alien" companions? How about robots? Do robots count? (They so totally do!)
Listen in as we compare Victoria's and Zoe's relationships to Jamie, ponder over whether Leela fits better as a past or future companion, disagree about which Doctor Adric works best with, and squee about Nyssa. All this and more...enjoy!
^E
Also covered [links on our site]:
Kat reads Texts From the TARDIS (Classic Edition)! (Bonus: New Who edition)
Lynne watches nferno Special Edition VAM: "Hadoke vs HAVOC"! (Bonus: Who's Round podcast!)
Erika is going to Dragon*Con! & the Parsec Awards!
Deb thinks Verity! listeners are awesome!

Sound On Sight Podcast
Many thanks, yet again, to Dv8r71 for this wonderful poster
It's the dog days of Summer and we're taking a few trips in the Wayback Machine to look at the time of Sylvester McCoy, the seventh actor to play the role of the Doctor. We're starting with the 1987 serial that introduced an unsuspecting universe to the most excellent Sophie Aldred as Ace. Join Derek Gladu, Eric Mendoza, Beverly Brown and special guests Terry Lightfoot and Fuschia Begonia from the Dirty Whoers Podcast as we slay "Dragonfire".
[powerpress]
If you've not had the pleasure of listening to the Dirty Whoers, check out their, um, unique ratings system.
And for your consideration, take a trip in our podcast time machine and listen to our 24th podcast, in which we discus Mr. McCoy's seminal adventure "The Curse of Fenric".
And feel free to give us a rating on Itunes. It supports the show and is much appreciated.

The Cloister Room 065 - Now I Am Total Power.mp3
The Cloister RoomTom and Louis, in their random wand'rings through time and space, were brought to the end of the Pertwee era for a discussion of Planet of the Spiders. Among the topics of discussion are world religions and terrible Two Legs acting--plus, a rather prescient remark from Tom (keep in mind that this was actually recorded prior to the announcement of Peter Capaldi's casting as the Doctor!).

You're wasting your time and my time as well
Who's He?This week the lads take a trip back in time and crack on once again with their series 3 retrospective with a review of 42. I am sorry to say however that Phil makes a true return to form in this episode as he does not like this one little bit. So expect calm level headed discussion from Paul and hot headed, angry words that make no sense from Phil.
And in the news this week, the guests are announced for the BFI Doctor Who 50 showing of Bad Wolf and The Parting of The Ways, Doctor Who is nominated in a Radio Times poll for the nations most loved drama and two items of TARDIS news!
